The Tuck Business School Turduckens flexed their hockey muscles again, this time against the lowly Whalers who were officially elminated from the playoffs with a 7-1 loss on Tuesday night.
The Whalers put forth their best effort, almost carrying a scoreless game into the first intermission, but a lucky goal that tipped off a Whaler Defenseman's stick and in slow motion redirected up and ever so slowly over the shoulder of their goaltender, Tucker "Big Sexy" Garrity-Hanchett with just 10 seconds remaining in the frame. Goal scored by Ryan "Butch" Cassidy from Seamus O'Neil.
The Turduckens outshot the Whalers 12-4 in the first period, but the Whalers did a solid job of keeping their opponent's shots to the outside.
The first period was a solid one from the Whaler's, but the rest of the game kind of went the way this video went for the Whaler's Scotty "Too Hotty" Christian showing off his ABC's(agility, balance and coordination).
Tuck bounced out to a 4-0 lead through two periods behind a pair of goals from Stefan "Saucy" Soucy and a goal from Luke "Stick 'Em" Stickel. All three goals saw the Tuckies take advantage of the Whaler's complete and utter lack of defensive play, giving up the middle of the ice and missing coverage. Soucy's first saw him split a pair of defenders before making the Whaler's goaltender look like an actual Whale in net trying to move laterally before putting the puck in along the ice. The next two goals from Stickel and Soucy saw poor defensive coverage in their zone and point blank shots from the slot (not Tucker's fault). In all fairness to Tuck, they move the puck well and are extremely patient before making all of their opponents look like tripods.
END OF THE SECOND: Tuck 4 - Whalers 0. SHOTS: Tuck 30 - Whalers 10
Tuck scored 3 more goals in the third behind a pair of breakaways from Jon "Car Geek" Carkeek and Sam "May Day" Gray. Their third goal was off a Whaler turnover and Soucy finding Stickel all alone in the slot yet again. "My man Sticky don't miss." Said Soucy after the game. "It's like he was invisible out there, the Whaler's couldn't see him."
The Whalers did get on the board with Kelly "The Mouth" Park's first goal of the season. "Right place at the right time. Even the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in awhile." Said the Whaler's Scotty Christian about Park's lucky goal off a loose puck in the slot.
The Whalers did press a little bit more in the third and Tuck's goalie Brendan "Killer" Kelley came up big, turning away 16 of 17 shots. The Whaler's netminder ended up turning away 38 of 45 shots, but in Garrity-Hanchett's defense, he probably should have saved only 6 of the 7 goals. The Whalers also got ZERO production out of the teenagers they brought on board to score goals....again.
FINAL: Tuck 7 - Whalers 1. SHOTS: Tuck 45, Whalers 17
