UVHL Co-Commissioner, Legend, Coach & Gambler's Manager, Will "The Thrill" Meyer did an amazing thing this week against the lowly Whalers by scoring all 3 of his teams goals in a 3-2 win over the hopless Whalers. To be fair the Whalers put together a hell of a game, behind a 48 save performance from their netminder Tucker "Big Sexy" Garrity-Hanchett, but still remain winless...now with a 0-8-1 record.
Meyer was outstanding, scoring one in each period behind a pair of assists from both Sean "Copland" Collins and Ryan "The Boogeyman" Bergeron. Two of his goals came off of beautiful redirections in the slot, the third on a backdoor powerplay goal from Collins. "I love these neon orange Gambler's jerseys, I couldn't look directly at Will because the brightness would have burned my retinas, but I could still see him moving like a flaming traffic cone to the back door." said Collins post game during his team's celebration.
The Whalers actually opened up the scoring on the first shift of the game behind a fantastic rush from Chris "Inception" Inserra who burned Gambler's defenseman Zach "Flaming Traffic Cone" Aher in the neutral zone before cutting through the crease on his backhand and torching Luke "The Nuke" McCormick(27 saves) with a backhand chip over the pad. Aher was humbled after the game as he made excuses to the media including "I had a bad night, I was up too late swiping on Tinder. It's not an excuse, it's just the truth. The ladies love the Zach Attack. Any single ladies can find me on twitter, just search for @ZachLovesBBW".
Meyer scored the next two, the first with 4 minutes remaining in the first off a Bergeron point shot and the second on the PowerPlay from Collins & Bergeron. The Whalers were able to tie the game up off another Aher blunder in the second that saw him inexplicably fall down in the slot before Bentley "Big B" Boonyaharn. Assists to Chris Bianca and Aiden "A-Train" Boonyaharn.
The Gamblers were on a tear in the 3rd, putting 21 shots on net with only the one escaping TGH. The goal came with just over 5 minutes to play on a pointshot from Collins, also assisted by "Sweet Baby" Ray Nolan.
The Whalers tried their best to tie the game, carrying play in the final minutes and pulling their goaltender, but the Gamblers locked up the middle of the ice and defended well.
