OVER/UNDER: | 8 |
In the final game of the night we have the Labatt Blues hosting the Nords. Labatt comes into this week after being stunned by Tuck's come back win in a shoot after blowing a 5-1 lead. The Nords come into this week after a blow out loss to the Gamblers. Both teams are coming into this week deflated but the Blues should be able to bounce back and win this game 6-2 over the Nords who are on a three game losing streak.
In the final game of the night we have the Labatt Blues hosting the Nords. Labatt comes into this week after being stunned by Tuck's comeback win in a shoot after blowing a 5-1 lead. The Nords come into this week after a blowout loss to the Gamblers. In the first period the Blues came out fast and hard scoring the game"s first goal just a 1:26 into the game when TJ Moran put the puck past the Nords Colin Farr. The Blues kept the pressure on and taking it to the Nords, it wasn"t until 8:01 when Justin Lawrence put the Blues up 2-0. After giving up two goals in the first 7 minutes the Nords settled down and got some good chances on the Blues goalie Jay Seals. The period would end with the score 2-0, the Nords Colin Farr ended the period with 14 saves and the Blues Seals would end with 6 saves.
After settling down in the second half of the first the Nords came out hungry in the second and paid off quickly as Roger Phillips let a slapper go from top of the left circle that beat the Blues Seals just 34 seconds into the second period. It didn"t take long for the Blues to answer back as the Nords gave them a power play shortly after scoring their first goal, on the power play Mathew Littler was able to put the Blues up 3-1 with 12:17 left in the period. Just like the first the Nords didn"t give up and kept firing shots but nothing else would get by Seals for the remainder of the period. The Blues would get a PP late in the period after the Nords Roger Phillips got called for a hooking penalty with 2:16 left in the period. With just a 1:12 left in the period the Blues Brain Smith would score after Farr gave up a rebound on a Keith Lazarczyk shot to put the Blues up 4-1 heading into the third. The Nords Farr would finish the period with 13 saves (two period total of 27) and the Blues seals would finish with 10 saves (two period total of 16).
In the third the Nords got a chance to get back into this game as the Blues took a penalty 2 minutes into the period, however the Blues were able to kill it off and keep the pressure on the Nords. With the Blues out playing the Nords in the third the Nords didn"t have many chances in the third, they did get a breakaway goal from Peter Scalia with 8:05 left in the game. With the Blues up 4-2 halfway through the third the game would end with the score 4-2 as the Blues out played the Nords as they were fatigued in the third only playing with ten guys. The Nords Farr would have 13 saves in the third and finish the game with 40 saves on the night. This is the fourth game in a row that Farr has been peppered but he has stood on his head each week doing the best he can to give his team a chance to win!
