Nordiques @ Cardigan
ODDS: | EVEN |
OVER/UNDER: | 10 Goals |
The Nords & Cardigan both sit sub .500 on the young season with identical 3-4-0 records. The similarities between these two teams ends there. Cardigan is an offensive juggernaut, scoring 48 goals in their first 7 games, tops in the UVHL. They've also allowed a whopping 40 goals in that span as well.
The Nordiques have scored just 26, 5th in the UVHL, while only allowing 24. They have shut down the Gamblers offense in their 2 games this season, only allowing 5 goals total. And they kept Tuck to only a trio of goals last week. The Nordiques have clearly embraced a defensive style of play, but at what cost? They have also lost their last two games in the final minute of play..2-1 to the Gamblers with 41 seconds remaining and then 3-2 to Tuck with just 23 seconds left. Both mental lapses that can be corrected, and both should have at least gone to a shootout giving them additional points in the standings.
Cardigan is powered by Owen "The One Man Show" Carpino who's league leading 21 Goals & 24 points in 7 games is ridiculous. He has almost as many goals as the entire Nordiques team combined.
The Nords are led by Jordy "McNasty" McGee who will need to carry his team offensively. McGee's 11 goals lead the team.
The Nordiques have the advantage in net with Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner putting his team on his back for most of the season.
In the end, this could go to another shootout. Carpino is the wildcard here, how many goals can he score?
Prediction: Nordiques loose it in the final minute of play again,
