Tuck extends shutout streak against surprised Whalers

The last goal against Yacey was on Nov. 10th by the Nords early in the third period, and that makes 103 minutes and 28 seconds without allowing a goal. Wow. That is impressive! Yacey has 3 career UVHL shutouts in 7 career games and is now the all time career leader passing Turner who has 2 shutouts in 6 seasons. Tuck was short tonight with their second year players all away for Thanksgiving with the exception of co-captain Ryuji Kikuchi and alum Ryan McGovern. Several first year players were also absent, but Yacey was also defended by call ups Matt Delellis and Claus Eckbo. The Whalers made the mistake of thinking it would be an easy win, and right from the start of the game Tuck proved that theory wrong.

Tuck charged out to a 3 goal lead before 10 minutes had ticked off the clock. Parker Lytle lit the lamp behind Lallier at 11:08 fed by Halsey Coughlin. Soon after it was Kikuchi catching the Whalers off guard at 10:43 with an unassisted effort to put Tuck in charge early. Coughlin scored at 5:40 from either #54 McGovern or #24 Eckbo (or both) because #4 was listed on the game sheet. Tuck wore white and the game sheet was all fucked-up. Tuck had a 3 goal lead and the Whalers were shocked, and couldn%u2019t get anything going. They seemed to lack speed and intensity, and when they did get chances Yacey was there to make the save.

In the final two frames McGovern went to the Tuck box for tripping at 9:41, and less than a minute after killing it off Tuck scored again, this one by Tony Cape from McGovern and Coughlin who garnered his 3rd point of the night at 6:54. Delellis got nabbed for interference at 5:50 of the third, but the impotent Whalers PP was shutdown by Yacey and his hardworking squad. There isn%u2019t really anything else to say about this game that was lackluster and boring after the first 3 goals.

Final Score: Tuck wins 4-0 with yet another shutout!

Final Analysis: The Whalers just weren%u2019t scoring, and looked flat in this one. This is the kind of game that they must show up for and win, and they blew the opportunity big time. Yacey had another easy shutout, not to diminish his accomplishments, but in the last two games neither opponent showed up against Tuck, and that is why they are respectively at the bottom of the standings with identical 1-5-1 records. Tuck played smart and played hard. One veteran Tuckie said the call-ups played %u201Cgreat%u201D, and gave them the credit for the win.

Final Tally: Check out the Boxscores section and don%u2019t forget to vote for the Long Trail UVHL Player of the Week. The winner gets a FREE case of beer thanks to Long Trail CEO Brian Walsh!
