In the second game of the night we had the Gamblers hosting the Whalers, the last time these two teams played it was a back and forth battle that the Gamblers were able to hold on to win. The start of this game was no different, the Whalers Ryan Quinn would waste no time getting the Whalers on the board as he put them up 1-0 51 seconds into the game. The Gamblers would answer back at 11:48 on a Dave Sutton goal. The Whalers Ryan Quinn answered back with his second goal of the night 2 minutes later to the the Whalers up 2-1. The Gamblers Matty Marrazzo would tie the game up at 2 on a goal of his own with 7:12 mark of the period. The Gamblers Topo LaCroix would put the Gamblers up 3-2 with 6:38 remaining. Ryan Quinn of the Whalers would again answer back with his third goal of the night (for the natural hat trick) making the score 3-3 with 3:19 left in the period. The Gamblers Max Woods would score the last goal of the period for the Gamblers with 13 seconds left to put the Gamblers up 4-3.
In the second period the score was very much like the first but this time it was Topo LaCroix who would put the Gamblers up 5-3 just 24 seconds into the period. The Gamblers would extend their led to 7-3 as they got two more goals from Mike O'neil (PP) and Max Woods (SH). Although the Whalers gave up a short handed goal they were able to get one back on the PP again from Ryan Quinn netting his 4th goal of the night with 10:33 left in the second. The Whalers would score the games next 3 goals and yes somebody else other then Ryan Quinn would score for the Whalers, the goals were as follows: Jay Zanleoni (Sub), Dillan Pierce (assit to Ryan Quinn), and yes Ryan Quinn again for his 5th goal of the night to tie the score at 7-7. The Gamblers again would score late in last minute (27 seconds left to be exact) on a goal from Travis Hutchins to give the Gamblers an 8-7 led heading into the third.
In the third it was very much like the first two periods with back and forth action, it was the Gamblers Max Woods who would put them up 9-7 at the 11:33 mark. The Whalers sub Jay Zanleoni would make the score 9-8 with his goal at 9:41 but you guessed it Ryan Quinn would get another assist on the night. The Gamblers Topo LaCroix would would put the Gamblers up 10-8 with 8:13 left in the period, but the Whalers wouldn't give up at Dillan Pierce would mkae the score 10-9 with 7:07 left. The Gamblers Max Woods would put the Gamblers back up by two with his goal at 6:39 making the score 11-9. The Whalers again would answer back at 5:26 on a goal from Jay Zanleoni set up by Ryan Quinn who was having a career night to make the score 11-10, but that would be as close as they would get as the Gamblers would score two more goals before the game was over. The last two goals were scored by Travis Hutchins and Topo LaCroix to secure the Gamblers 13-10 win. This game was one for the record books as I believe this is the most goals scored in one game by both teams and also Ryan Quinn scoring the most points in one game 8 (5g 3a). These two teams meet again when we come back from break and it will be interesting to see what the outcome of that game is!
