ODDS: | Jacks by 3 |
OVER/UNDER: | 9 |
In the first game of the night we have Nords taking on the Lumberjacks as both teams looks to get their first win of the season. The Nords lost last week to Tuck by the score of 7-3 and if it wasn%u2019t for goalie Colin Farr it would have been worst, not to mention they had TWO too many men penalties as well. The Jacks come into this week after a 6-1 thumping by the Labatt Blues in a game that saw the Jacks in the penalty box all night which would cost them the game. This game should be a good contest as the Nords are searching to get a full team effort meanwhile the Jacks need to get back to play good hard hockey and to say out of the box. If the Jacks can do that they will win this game 6-3 and earn their first win of the season.
In the first game of the night we had the Nords taking on the Lumberjacks as both teams looks to get their first win of the season. The Nords lost last week to Tuck 7-3 and if it wasn"t for goalie Colin Farr it would have been worst. The Jacks come into this week after a 6-1 thumping by the Labatt Blues in a game that saw the Jacks in the penalty box all night which would cost them the game. In the first period the Nords came ready to play and pressing right of the first faceoff. The Nords were able to get on the board first as Bill Sailer scored his first goal of the season when line mate"s Roger Phillips and Peter Scalia set him up backdoor. The score would remain the same for the rest of the period but the Jacks were challengeing Colin Farr from every angle but nothing was getting by him in the first. Farr finished the period with 12 saves and the Jacks Chris Pelkey had 5 saves.
In the second period the Jacks picked up their play to another gear as it only took them a minute to tie the game up when Gary Laperle scored his first goal of the season as line mate Loren Lunt got the assist. The Jacks kept the pressure on the Nords which resulted in the Nords taking a few penalties in the period but Farr was there again to bail his team out. The Nords killed both penalties off but the power plays gave the Jacks momentum in the game which would eventually lead to them taking the lead with 4:37 left in the period. The go ahead goal was scored by Will Olmstead when he collected his own rebound off a Farr save. With the Jacks up 2-1 they kept the pressure on Farr and they were able to extend the lead to 3-1 after Jordan McGee scored his first of the night. McGee struck again just 32 second later when Loren Lunt blocked a clearing wrap around attempt by the Nords, passed it to Murphy who then set up McGee who was wide open in front to tap the puck in and make the score 4-1 Jacks. The Nords were able to answer with one goal late in the second when Peter Scalia scored with just 4 seconds left in the period, to make the score 4-2. The Jacks dominated the period once the Nords took two penalties and if it wasn"t for Farr (who made 20 saves) the Nords would be down by more than just two goals. Meanwhile the Jacks Chris Pelkey finished the period with 10 saves, giving him a 2 period total of 15 vs. Farr"s 32 saves through two periods.
In the third the Nords came out pushing back on the Jacks but Pelkey was steering away anything coming his way early in the period. Just over 4 minutes into the period Jordan McGee got his 3rd goal of the night at 10:37 to notch his first hat trick on the season. The Jacks weren"t done there as Tim Patten wanted in on the scoring and he would score the game"s next two goals. His first goal was at 10:13 and his second was scored with 2:35 left in the game. The Jacks had kept their foot on the pedal all way through the period as Colby Laperle put the Jacks up 7-2 with 34 seconds left in the game. For the second week in a row, if the Nords didn"t have Farr the score would have been higher for the Jacks. The Nords Farr ended the period with 18 saves and a three period total of 50 vs. Pelkey"s 25 saves on the night. The Jacks looks like the team we knew from last year meanwhile the Nords are still soul searching.
