In the final game of the night we have the Whalers hosting the Nordiques. Both teams come into this game off losses from last week. The Whalers lost to tough one to the Jacks and the Nords lost to Tuck badly. This game will be a close one if the Nords can get some numbers but the Whalers will take this one 4-2 as they have been playing good hockey lately.

In the final game of the night we had the Whalers hosting the Nordiques. Both teams come into this game off losses from last week and were hungry to get a win tonight. The game opened started with a slow pace as each team didn"t want to give up the game"s first goal. The Nords were able to get on the scoreboard first as Pierce Mayhew was able to tip in a shot from Ryan McGovern at 11:08. With the Nords up 1-0 the Whalers were pushing back and getting some good chances on JT but it was the Nords who cashed in again. The Nords went up 2-0 on a Greg Marsh low and hard slapper as he was set up by line mates Roger Phillips and Pierce Mayhew. The period would end with the Nords up 2-0 as the controlled most of the play in the period.

In the second period the Nords came out right where they had left off and peppering the Whalers Kenny Lallier with shots. The Nords would get the games next goal at 11:57 as Greg Marsh scored his second goal of the night and this time he was set up by Ryan McGovern. The Whalers would finally get on the score board about 3 minutes later when Sam Bailey beat JT 5 hole on a nice hard low shot. Although the Nords gave up a goal they kept the pressure on and would get the games next goal at 1:38 when Poli Nightingale would tap home a rebound to put the Nords up 4-1 heading into the third period.

In the third period the Whalers would come out hard and get an early goal from Ben Rouillard at 12:03 to get the Whalers back into this game. The Whalers would keep the pressure up and it would pay off at 6:31 as Patrick Riley would tap the puck into an empty net as the Nords defensemen turned the puck over to Mike Avery who set up Riley for a nice one timer goal. With the score now 4-3 the Nords were feeling the pressure from the Whalers and pushed back with a goal of their own just 20 seconds after letting the Whalers back into the game. The Nords goal was scored by Pierce Mayhew as Greg Marsh and Kelly Park set Pierce up after the Whalers turned over the puck while trying to break out of their zone. On the next faceoff the Whalers took the puck into the Nords zone, the pass came out to the point where the Nords Pierce Mayhew a blocked the shot and went down on Lallier 2-0 with teammate Greg Marsh, Mayhew hit Marsh backdoor to put the Nords up 6-3 with 5:40 left in the game. The Nords would get one more insurance goal with 2:38 left from Ryan McGovern as he beat Lallier from the point with a low hard snap shot. With the Nord"s up 7-3 the Whalers would make a late push as they got a goal from Ben Rouillard with 2:16 left to make the score 7-4. The Whalers were done there as they got one more goal with :47 left from Tom Crapser as he sniped a hard wrist shot past JT"s glove to cut the lead to 7-5 but that is as close as the Whalers would get as the Nord"s would win the game 7-5.
