Nordiques Look To End Gamblers Perfect Season
ODDS: | Gamblers By 4 |
OVER/UNDER: | 8 Goals |
Surprise! The Gamblers are undefeated through the first 10 games of the season...with a 75 goal differential. They've scored 9.5 goals per game(95 goals) and allowed only 2.00 goals per game (20 goals). Every game has been a virtual blowout except for a pair of 5-2 wins over the Nordiques and Whalers 5 weeks ago.
The Nordiques have been inconsistent, sitting third in the standings with a 6-4-0 record. With the loss of their offensive leader, Jordy "McShoulder" McGee, they took an ass whooping from the Whalers before the break. The Nordiques are in turmoil and a game against the Gamblers is EXACTLY what they don't need.
Secret agents within each organization have been reporting back to me and the insider information on the Nordiques is that McGee, Racicot, Nightengale & McGovern will all be out of the lineup tonight for various reasons.
My Gambler's spy has said that Willy Meyer had a Tofu sandwich with brussel sprouts and a radish for lunch. He also said that Meyer smells like Old Spice and likes to take long skates on a hockey rink.
This should be a relatively easy win for the Gamblers against a short Nordiques squad. Gamblers lead 3-0 after the first period and win 7-1...despite the over/under which was set yesterday.
Gamblers Rout Nordiques: 11-3
Once again the Gamblers have walked into Union Arena in Woodstock, VT and once again the Gamblers have exited with a dominant win. This time the unlucky opponents were the hapless Nordiques.
In seven of their eleven games this season the Gamblers have scored in the double digits and in total they have outscored their opposition 106 to 23 this season. Domination is clearly not a strong enough word.
Tonight they had a big night from both lines which saw all six forwards compiling at least a goal and 3 points. Dan "The Danimal" Ammel led the way with a hat trick and pair of assists and Martin "Tomahawk" Tomanik had a pair of goals and assists.
The Nordiques were exceptionally bad at every single position. John "Temper Tantrum" Turner was less than good, letting in 11 goals on 38 shots, defenseman Kelly "Minus" Park was a God-Awful -10, their wingers didn't back check and turned over the puck on every square inch of the ice and their centerman looked lost in their own zone.
With that being said, the Gamblers have a tendency to make opposing players look bad. Their hockey sense is top notch, and they force turnovers and turn them into scoring chances in a blink of an eye.
The first goal came just 2:34 into the game when a Nordique turnover at the blue line saw the Nordiques outnumbered down low and a point shot/pass from Marc "The Narc" Gattie, redirected to the side of the net by "Minus" Park, landed right on the stick of Allison "The Hook" Malcolm who easily scored her tenth goal of the season for the 1-0 lead.
Meyer made it 2-0 on the next shift as he walked in 1 on 2 against Shawn "McEclipse" McDermott and used him as a screen, beating Turner off the post and in for his league leading 26th goal of the season. Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo finished an Ammel pass for a 3-0 at 6:34. The Gamblers were clearly in control of this period.
"Fierce" Pierce Mayhew scored for the Nords with 3:04 to play in the first, but that was about as good as it was going to get for his team.
END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 3, Nordiques 1 (Park -2)
Ammel scored the next two goals for the Gamblers on snipes, then Nordiques defenseman Ryan "McNasty" McGovern had one of the prettiest goals of the year as he cut through center ice on a couple of moves, then split the Gamblers defense and beating the Gamblers Seidling with a nifty move to his backhand for his 7th of the season.
LaCroix made it 6-2 with 5:06 remaining in the second as he curled out high and used "Minus" Park as a screen beating Turner high glove side. Tomanik then finished the periods scoring with his 4th of the season on a backdoor pass from Meyer.
END OF THE SECOND: Gamblers 7, Nordiques 2 (Park -6)
The Gamblers added 4 goals in the third from Ammel, LaCroix, Tomanik & Meyer, while the Nords added one of their own from Douglas "Heavy" Heavisides. The third was total domination by the Gamblers. There was a small tussle between commissioner Shawn McDermott & "The Milkman" Marrazzo which put the Nords on the powerplay, which was pretty ugly anyways. The only other notable was that the Nordiques were visibly upset by a particular Gambler who screamed as if he had just scored the game winning goal in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals on every goal that his team mates scored in an 11-3 blowout. "It was just a classless fucking thing to do," said one Nordique. "I mean they are blowing us out and this guy is just rubbing it in after every goal. What a deusch!"
FINAL: Gamblers 11, Nordiques 3 (Park -10)

Man, was I wrong...who was I to think we had a chance against the league's top offense? I guess we can only hope we'll play as a team next time we meet, and stop trying to skate with such a fast and talented squad. Will anyone be able to solve the Gamblers this season? I know one thing's for sure...one Gambler...we'll call him..."Insignificant" will no doubt have the eyes (and ears) of the league on him as he ridiculously celebrates like a freakin chimp bangin on his cage after every goal. Only classless players behave like this. Have some respect for your opponents as well as your teammates. You not only embarrass yourself, but I know for a fact, your own team thinks you're a joke.

Hey Marshy, I have to say that I agree 1000%. That was utterly classless of Young. Have some respect for your opponents, even if you are running up the score on them. | | | | |
