Tuckerdoodle @ Whalers
ODDS: | Whalers By 4 Goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 10 Goals |
Both teams suffered debilitating losses last week that have left their franchises questioning the meaning of life. Tuck lost another blowout to the Gamblers (which seems to be happening to everyone this season) in a 13-4 loss. The Whalers walked into a meeting with the winless Dead River Oilers and left with a crushing 6-3 loss.
Both rosters have big questions that will determine the outcome of this game, as both rosters tend to be a crapshoot on a weekly basis.
Despite last week's results, the Whalers should come out of this one victorious...7-3 or 7-4.
Whalers Fall Again, This Time to Tuck 9-6
After a disappointing loss to the WINLESS Dead River Oilers last week, the Whalers were hoping to bounce back with an easy win over a short benched and 2-6-0 Tuck team. The Whalers obviously underestimated Tuck and didn't bring the fire that had kept them competitive thus far.
Tuck pulled in some subs from the Nordiques in Kelly "Mr. Minus" Park, Shawn "Dr. McMinus" McDermott & Ian "The Tooth" Coates. Park and McDermott were terrible as a defensive pairing for Tuck, allowing 5 of the Whalers 6 goals and only being on the ice for 1 of Tuck's 9 goals scored...for a combined -8 on the season.
The rest of Tuck played very well, especially the top line of Brandon "Harry" Harrington, Sam "Duck" Pond and Kevin McCafferty. The trio combined for four goals and eleven points on the night. The second line of Coates, Tyson Seeley & Robert E. Lee Taylor IV had a goal apiece and Scotty "The Bald Assassin" Howard played solid defense and chipped in a pair of goals.
The Whalers had almost their entire team tonight, but couldn't quite get things going. They started off extremely strong, scoring two goals in one shift on the horrific defensive tandem of Park & McDermott and added a third to close out the first frame up 3-0. The goals came from Cody "The Mullet" Vose as he crashed the back door and finished a nice pass from Tom "The Toilet" Crapser, quickly followed by Gary "The Pearl Necklace" Laplerle cleaning up some garbage in front of the net and defenseman Kirt "Big" Johnson shooting a laser from the point through a screen and past Kurt "The Hawaiian Dream" Zwald.
Tuck got right back into things in the second as they scored the next three goals, two of them coming on the powerplay. Pond, Coates and then Howard were the goal scorers with Harrington assisting on both power play goals. It was all Tuck from there on out as they as Seeley and Harrington added goals late in the period. The Whaler's cut the lead to 5-4 with a Joe "Gaudy" Gaudet's nasty snapper past Zwald, but the period ended with Tuck up by a goal.
It was all Tuck for the first five minutes of the third period as they built an unsurmountable 9-4 lead with 10 minutes to play. They got all the bounces, and added a few nice goals from McCafferty, Howard, Taylor and Pond.
The Whalers closed out the game with a pair of goals, but it just wasn't enough. Minus the first and last minutes, Tuck was clearly the better team. They played with poise and confidence and upset the more talented Whaler's sqaud.

| Tuck Crunches Numbers Dec 12th, 2011 03:04 PM
What's the story from the Tuck group? Will they be in town? Are they too busy studying for finals to make this late tilt? What's the word?
With all those questions still out there, I'm going with the Whale. But, it was a good battle last time, so we'll have to see what Tuck brings to the game. kpark Quechee, VT

| Tuck will show... Dec 13th, 2011 04:02 PM
And I will be representing them on defense, just to turn Stally inside out. Ok, I can barely turn my jersey inside out, but I will most likely do something to influence the outcome of this game...unfortunately for Tuck, it will probably be a couple of turnovers that lead to goals against.
Go Tuck! JTStally Hanover, NH

Looks like my lead feet were missed in our defensive zone for this one. No worries Parky, I'll be back to shut you down this coming week when we beat the Nords! | | |
