The Brewers look for redemption after the Nordiques took their first meeting 4-3 in a shootout. Both teams have had a good start to the season as the Nordiques and Brewers sit in the second and third seeds of the league, respectively.
The Nordiques have historically had their way with the Brew Crew, taking 29 of the 42 games since 2005-2006. They have also taken six of the last seven, but tend to have some trouble with the Brewers aggressive style of play.
The Brewers have six players with a point per game, led by Billy "Flatulence" Fletcher's 13 points in six games(5g, 8a) and Keith "Big Bubba Chubba" Lazarczyk's seven goals in seven games. In net, Matty "Spazzy" Albertazzi has been good in net, with a couple of Player of the Game nods.
The Nordiques have nine players on a point per game pace, led by "Fierce" Pierce Mayhew(7g, 5a). In net, Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner has a respectable 4.00 GAA and has been spectacular at times.
Turner should carry the Nordiques to a win in this one...5-3.
Brewers Man-Handle Nordiques, 7-4
The Brew Crew upset the Nordiques tonight with a solid win where they out-played and out-muscled their opponent in every facet of the game. Epitomized by the play of the Brewers burly forward, Aaron "Manchild" Mancuso, who owned the Nordiques and seemed to make it his personal vendetta to Make the Nord's Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner his bitch.
Mancuso racked up a hat trick and three assists on the night, scoring the game winner and two crucial goals late in the game. Not only did Mancuso score three pivotal goals, he also had a collision with the Nordique's top offensive threat in the first period, Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee...sending McGee to the IR for four to six weeks with a separated shoulder. The loss of McGee seemed to be the turning point in this game, as the Nords had a 2-1 lead at the time and followed up with some sloppy play and let up a pair of goals to close out the period.
Garren "Teed Goon" Poirier had a pair of goals in the first period, and matched his offensive production with some stellar defense in this game, earning himself the second star of the game.
Chris "Turtle" Johnson made it 3-2 after backhanding some garbage left in front of the net through a screen and past Turner who was fuming at his team for screening him on all three goals in the first period.
The Nords took the lead with the only goal of the second from that dentist guy, Roger "Jerry Curl" Phillips, who finished off a pass from Ian "Toothless" Coates.
The third period was the "Mancuso Show", as he burned Turner on a breakaway to start the period, followed by a semi-breakaway move as he cut across the crease and buried a shot 5-hole and threw in a goal with 1:25 for good measure and finish off the hatty.
The third period was all Brewers, all the time, but don't let the Nordiques lead through two periods fool you. The Brewers dominated for the first 4 minutes of the game, and beat up the Nordiques all over the ice. Turner wasn't sharp, their defense turned over the puck, their forwards looked uninspired and the overall team play was sloppy. The Brewers seem to have that affect on the Nordiques, and played their game perfectly, earning a solid win.
I've been a Nord now for 7 weeks, and all I've heard from JT for 7 weeks is "I'm 41 now" and "My shoulder hurts" and "I'm too old for this" and blah blah blah. This is your new reality:

Mancuso rules Dec 12th, 2011 03:46 PM
Mancuso roasted me twice on his cut across breakaway goals and I haven't slept at night since. I'm just as much his bitch as Turner is. There was nothing I could do to stop him. I hate myself.
