The #2 Nordiques take on the #3 Whalers in a typical Whale/Nords grudge match. Historically, the Whalers have always played the Nordiques tough, to a 1 or 2 goal game, and this year they are more talented than in years past.

The Nordiques are looking for redemption as they have lost the last two meetings, both from last season including a devastating playoff loss. With the addition of Dillon Pierce & Joe Gaudette, the Whalers offense has been sparked as they've scored at least 4 goals in each game this season.

After a brutal week 1 loss to the Gamblers the Nordiques have won three in a row. The Nords may be without leading offensive threat Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee, if so, this will be a 1 goal game. With McGee, Nords win 7-3...without...5-4 plus an empty netter.

Nordiques Battle Whalers to 5-3 Win

As promised this was another epic battle between the Nordiques & Whalers that was a roller coaster from start to finish that essentially came down to 1 goal late in the third period. Both the Nordique's Johnny Turner & Whaler's Kenny Lallier were called upon often to keep their teams in the game.

The Whalers jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over three minutes in when Kelly "The Turnover" Park threw a lame duck pass off the boards that Jay Zanleoni picked out of mid air and fed Joe Gaudet who in turn fed Dillan Pierce for the goal.

From that point on the first period was dominated by the Nordiques who took a commanding 3-1 lead behind goals from Eric Krivitzky, Kelly Park and Jordy McGee. Krivitzky's was a LASER from the high slight that rang off the crossbar and in. Park jammed home a shitty rebound and McGee beat Lallier with a quick snapper.

The second frame was a bit different as the top line of the Whaler's began to run all over the Nordiques. Pierce, Gaudet & Zanleoni combined for all three goals tonight and eight of their teams nine points. The difference in this period and most likely the game was Johnny Turner who made about 6 incredible saves in the second period just to keep his team in it. Gaudet finally punched in a pair late in the period to tie the game, both assisted by Zanleoni.

The third period was a goaltender's showdown as Turner & Lallier traded saves in 3-3 game. It wasn't until 5:26 that the tie was finally broken by Ryan "The Govenator" McGovern, as he picked up a loose puck in his own zone, raced down the near boards and cut across the high slot, dragging a knee and finally beating Lallier with a quick snapper high five-hole. "It was a nasty goal" recalled Park. Ian "The Grin" Coates added a shorthanded empty netter with 32 seconds to play to ice the game.

Aaaah... methinks if we could all wake up that happy every morning there would be no war. As far as the post-game wings go tonight, McD has turned over a new plate... of grilled chicken & veggies... but I'll still tongue-fuck the shit out of the Buffalo sauce and the vat of bleu cheese I get on the side! That's what happens when you stand on it all night, buddy! Haha. It was a good game. I wish we could of found the net with a few more shots, but that was some solid goaltending for the Nords.
