Dead River Looks For First Win Against Nordiques
ODDS: | Nordiques By 2 |
OVER/UNDER: | 8 Goals |
Dead River rolls into week without a win and with a negative seven goal differential on the season. Their opponent...the 2-1-0 Nordiques who, after getting slaughtered 11-3 by the Gamblers in week one, have put together back to back wins to straighten out their season.
Dead River has scored a league low 8 goals over three games, but their saving grace would be that their goaltender Greg "First Period" Feiden has kept them in all three games so far. Dead River is lead in scoring by Jason "Looney" Loomis with 3 tallies in the first three games.
The Nordiques will be without their leading point producer, Jordy McGee who is off on an LGBT pleasure cruise around Lake Sunapee. The Nords will be hindered by the loss of McGee, but should still win this one with solid goaltending from Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner in net.
Nordiques win it 5-3...probably 6-2.
Dead River Continues Woeful Season with 8-2 Loss to Nords
Dead River put in a solid effort to try and get their first win of the season, but could only put together two solid periods, mostly marked by a STELLAR performance by Greg "Showtime" Feiden. Feiden was superb as he stymied the Nordiques with 6 or 7 big saves in the first two periods to keep it a one goal game.
The Nordiques were without their top offensive threat, Jordy McGee who was on an all male cruise around Lake Champlain, but despite his absence were able to put together an impressive night. Leading the way was "Fierce" Pierce Mayhew who had a pair of goals and assists, including the "game winner."
The only thorn in the side of the Nordiques tonight, was themselves and Stuart "Mighty Mouse" Grande who had both goals for Dead River. "He's a grinder, he's the spark plug of our team" recalled Feiden when asked about the game.
The Nords had 6 different goal scorers on the night, Roger "The Dirty and Rusty and Old Decrepit Dentist Drill" had a pair including the opening goal which was a beaut as he cut through two DR players and beat Feiden with a shot high glove. Phillips added another goal in the third. Tom "The Minister of Defense" Dakai had his first of the season with 5:33 to play in the second, just seven before Grande lit up the Nordique's John "Turnbuckle" Turner with 5:26 left in the second with a twisted-wrister high glove side to cut the Nordiques lead to 1.
The Noridques also had a nice night from rookie Eric Krivitzky who had his first of the season and added two assists. Kelly "The Mouth" Park also added a goal and two assists, the goal being the decisive 8th goal in an 8-2 win.
In the end, Dead River's short bench wasn't enough to match the three lines of the Nordiques. Feiden didn't have much help on the back end and despite a great start, he couldn't keep his team in it.
After a week one blowout loss to the Gamblers, the Nordiques have won three straight. Dead River has had a rough start(0-4-0) with a league low 10 goals scored in that span.

I'm amazed that Hadley is leading his team in points...apparently that Power Forward with no backchecking and offensive ability needs to be shadowed tonight. I'm going to be all over him like a fly on shit.
Nords win this one...9-2. JTStally Hanover, NH

Jordy's absence shouldn't hurt too badly. Don't forget that his Nords team has an offensive powerhouse in the form of Kelly "Visor-less Crosby" Park. 1stPeriod Lyme, NH

While Park is off rubbing up on Hadley, I expect a few DR players to sneak into the zone and put JT to the test.
And with the return of an actual defenseman tonight, DR might actually put forth a solid defensive effort, allowing the offensive talent to shine.
On that note - Park will either a) ring a puck off the crossbar, top blocker for the prettiest goal of the year, or b) give the protective netting a good workout. GamblinWoodie Lebanon, NH

Definitely taking the under on this one. But the more interesting prop bets...
Over / Under on Park shots ending up in the netting: 5
Over / Under on new puck marks on JT's RBK's: 3
Probability the MMA line outscores this entire game: High kpark Quechee, VT

3 shots off the end boards
2 shots right into your belly
2 PIMs
1 trip over the blue line
1 fight with Hadley kpark Quechee, VT
