DR hot coming into Tuesday action
ODDS: | Nords by 1 |
OVER/UNDER: | 12 |
Just in case any KMS Students are reading this, I want you all to know that I made it all up. It is nothing but a fictitious tale about a sad, sad man with visions of grandeur and sugarplumbs dancing around in his head... Regardless, Dead River played a great game last week (see the game recap!) and the Nords had better be ready. If not, they will be upset by the Oilers. As far as the Nords go, they also played a defensive gem in a 2-1 loss on Feb 15th, therefore I say throw all caution out the window and this will be a scorefest! I predict 7-6 Nords late in the third, maybe even a shootout. Will the Nords actually play in this game and show some heart after the last lame match-up on a snowy night? I know Feiden, Loomis, and Rosati will be there ready to play...
Nords edge light Dead River squad 4-2
Dead River came off a great perfoemance the week before, and they dominated the first period. Rob Pattison started the game just like he did in his very first UVHL game - rushing down the left side of the ice and scoring on his first shot past JT just inside the post on the very first shift. He credited it to "fresh ice", but his modesty does not reflect his skill and big league shot. However, I think he scored faster against me defending him in his first game than he did last week as it took 15 seconds this time, and I think he burnt me in only about 8 seconds last October. The Nords tied it up at 8:21 on Jordan McGee's marker from Brian Racicot, but the Oilers finished the period with a 2-1 lead after Evan Duggan scored with 3:49 to go from Dean Cashman. I must note that Duggan scored while McD was on the bench, and he did not earn the post-game beer McD offered in the pre-game challenge where McD said he would shut him down all game (yes, I'm speaking in the 3rd person! So what?). The Oilers carried the play for most of the period, and the Nords looked out of sync with 3 lines for the first time all season. Shots were 9-8 Nords.
The Nords scored two in the second, both by Racicot, and the last one coming with a back breaking 6 seconds left to take the lead 3-2. Dead River kept up all period with only 1 sub, and they still dominated play for the majority of the period. JT admonished his teammates during the break between periods, and led by example staying sharp and focused. Both goalies were not tested very many times with the shots only 6-4 Nords, but they made big saves when it counted.
In the third the Nords made it 4-2 giving themselves and their old roster some breathing room, and Kelly Park scored it at 7:54 from Ian Coates. Shots were close once again with the edge to the Nords 9-7.
Final Score: Nords 4, Dead River 2
Final Tally: Brian Racicot led all scorers with 2G, 1A and gets the POW nod, while Kelly Park and Jordan McGee had 1G, 1A each. Both goalies were tested fairly evenly with Feiden receiving 24 shots and Turner facing 20.
Final Analysis: Dead River played well and dominated the game for quite a while with only 6 skaters. The Nords had trouble getting used to a full squad for the first time this season with 3 full lines and 5 D, but for the Nords to win with this old roster it is crucial that they figure it out.
See you on the ice!

No unassisted, shorthanded, or any other kind of goals for you tonight while McDefense is on the ice, Evan! Be prepared to cry in your beer... :(....
If I'm wrong, then your first beer is on me post-game, eh.
