Gamblers Look To Run Winning Streak To 11 Against Brewers
ODDS: | Gamblers By 5 Goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 10 Goals |
The Gamblers have won their last 10 games, including a 1-0 forfeit win over Tuck last week. They have owned the Brewers in both games this season, outscoring them 13-4. The Brewers just aren't cut out to defend against the speed and intensity of the G-Men.
In both games this season, the Brew Crew played the Gamblers tough before collapsing late...don't expect this one to be any different.
These are two teams on different paths, the Gamblers have a 56 goal differential to the Brewers -29. The Gamblers have 5 scorers in the top 11, the Brewers none. The Gamblers have almost scored twice as many goals this season as the Brewers (74 vs 39).
What does that mean for the Brewers? It's not good. Gamblers win by at least 5 goals...7-2ish.
Brewers Play Gamblers Tough, Lose 4-2
This may have been the best game the Brewers have played all season...and Billy "The Kid" Fletcher wasn't there for the Brew Crew. Not sure what that says...but it says something. They played tough & smart hockey, limiting the powerhouse Gamblers to 34 shots and 4 goals. Matty "The Crow" Crowson was outstanding, making at least 15 big-time saves out of his 30 on the night, and the some think that the scorekeeper may have been watching porn on his phone instead of keeping track of shots. His counterpart, Jered "The Net Condom" Condon didn't see quite as much action but was stellar as usual en route to his 9th win in 10 games.
Evan "Touchy Feely" Seely got things started at 10:37 after taking a breakout pass from Dan "Danimal" Ammel as he flew down the near boards. Seely fired a hard wrist shot from the top of the circle that changed direction off of a Brewer defenseman and past Crowson. Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyer put the G-Men up 2-0 late in the first with a snipe, low blocker side.
Before the period ended, Jason "Wind-Up" Young hit the crossbar with a blistering HIGH slapshot from the point through a screen. Nobody saw it coming including Young.
END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 2, Brewers ZIP
The Gamblers looked in control, up 2-0 after one period and converting early in the second. The goal came at 12:36 while on the powerplay, started by a nice cycle in the corner from the MMA line. Ammel moved the puck to Matty "The Milkmaid" Marrazzo who took a quickshot that Crowson couldn't handle. The rebound landed in the crease and Meyer jammed it home for the comfy 3-0 lead. "It was like Christmas, Marrazzo wrapped that present up for me and left it in the crease" said Meyer.
At this point in the game it just didn't seem possible that Condon could let in a goal. He had already made 2 sick backdoor saves, flashed some leather and had an air of confidence as if he was untouchable. Despite how things looked, the Brewers made things interesting late in the second period scoring a pair of unassisted goals in the last 4:19. The first came from Keith "Lumbering" Lazarczyk as he forced a turnover on the near boas, took a shot from the faceoff dot and cleaned up his own rebound. Brock "Bubbles" Barton cut the lead to one with 2:11 to play in the period by picking off a pass at center ice, dipsy-doodling through 4 Gamblers and firing a snapshot with bite off the post and in.
END OF THE SECOND: Gamblers 3, Brewers 2
The Gamblers started the third period on the penalty kill, with Mike "The Hulk" Harrington in the box for a trip. The Brewers took their own penalty with 10:50 to play when Lazarczyk hauled down a Gambler player. Lazarczyk's penalty didn't produce a goal, but the Gamblers converted 3 seconds after it ended as Marrazzo cleaned up a point shot off of Scotty "F*CKING" Fraser. That goal at 8:47 capped all scoresheet activity. Condon made a couple saves as the Brewers went into panic mode and forced offense, which in turn required Crowson to be solid at the other end.
END OF REGULATION: Gamblers 4, Brewers 2
The Brewers were tough, and there probably should have been an additional 4 or 5 penalties called on them. The MMA line looked a bit stifled tonight by the pressure put on by the Brewers, but still scored 3 of the 4 goals and 7 of 8 points for the Gamblers.
