High Powered Nords Harpoon Whalers 10-6

The high-powered Nordiques took on the Whalers in the late game of this weeks action. The Nordiques beat up on the Brewers 10-4 last week while the Whalers fell apart late in a 5-3 loss to Dead River.

The Nordiques added to their legend with back to back 10 goal games as they peppered Kenny "The Stache" Lallier and Whalers. Lallier wasn't at his best as he was sporting his new Timmy Thomas styled pads that made him look like a tweener in big boy pads. Kenny clearly hasn't figured out the mechanics of the pads yet, but he's making good progress turning away 37 of 47 shots.

At the other end of the ice, Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner was in rare form as he let in 6 goals on 38 shots. Turner admittedly had some trouble controlling his rebounds.

Three Nordique players had big nights as Jordy "McBreakAway" McGee had 4 goals and an assist, Ian "The Tooth" Coates had a hat trick & Greg "The Butcher" Marsh added 4 assists. The Whaler's had a hell of a game from rookie Jason "Go-Time" Grambling who had 3 goals & 2 assists in his UVHL debut.

There were too many goals to recap. A couple of highlights would be that Grambling had one of the nicest tip-in goals I've seen as the Nordiques were a man down with Andy "The Pooch" Puchilak in the box for roughing. Gary "The Pearl Necklace" Laperle was manning the far point and fired a slapshot pass to Grambling who was about 12 feet to the right of Turner. Turner was coming out to face the shot, but Grambling aptly redirected the pass from no angle for the goal.

Another highlight came off the stick of Jordy McGee from a nice pass by his brother from another mother Dan "The Other McGee" McGee. The two McGees broke in all alone with Dan leading the charge. Danny faked to Lallier's stick side, only to drop the puck back to Jordy for the back door goal.

In the end, the Nordiques mix of veterans & youth handled the Whalers handily. Come December, you won't see this level of sloppy play from either team.

Can the Nordiques carry on with another 10 goal performance on Tuck & Dan Yacey....I doubt it. Will the Whalers get blown out by the Brewers....I doubt it.
