ODDS: | Gamblers by 3 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 9 goals |
This should be a BATTLE resulting in more penalty minutes than goals. Both teams have an attitude and play with a ton of heart, but the Kingers are in a downward spiral after losing to the Nordiques 10-5 last week. The Gamblers keep rolling through their opponents and have tallied 35 goals in their last 5 games. The Kingers will be without Danny French in net, so the goalie who will be filling in, has their work cut out for them.
My prediction.....6-3 win for the Gamblers.
Kings are on top of Gamblers 6-5 in upset victory!
Perhaps an upgrade in net sparked the Kings to upset the league leading Gamblers on March 10th. Maybe. To his credit Frenchy has been playing really well this season, but was out this week due to injury (bruised ego) after the 6 goal 3rd period against the Nordiques last Tuesday night. So, it must have been 2 full lines on the Kings bench, and the return of Artie Stout and Tommy Scull to the Kings blueline so that the MMA line could be controlled and the fatigue kept to a minumum. Louras faced 34 shots from the Gamblers and Condon faced 29 from the Kings in this match-up.
The Kings had a 2 goal first period shutting down the Gamblers potent one line attack. Condon shut down Pattison on a breakaway only 2 and a half minutes into the first. But, Pattison scored at 9:57 (unassisted) off a Scotty Davis turnover putting it through the gaping Swiss Cheese 5-hole of Condon. The play was even halfway through with 6 shots apiece, and Tyson Seely deflected on off the post that was covered up by Nick Louras in the Kings net who was filling in for Frenchy. Ian Gill, with the lone assist doled out to Cashman on Gill's marker, let a one-footer blast go that beat Condon off the far post and in, who apparently "looked like a bag of shit on that one" by our rink side reporter who will remain unnamed. Marrazzo missed on a breakaway while bing hunted down by Stout. In the box during the first were Scotty Davis for a hook, Kyle Morin for holding, and Artie Stout for cross-checking.
"And it is getting ugly" with some pushing, shoving (and whining) at the tail end of a Gamblers PP with Stout still in the box early in the second period. Marrazzo and Cashman got coincidental minors at 13:09 and then McIntyre and Stout got almost the same at 11:20, but this time with a double minor going to Stout. Harrington pinched and was beat by a Scull pass to Morin who then cut across the high slot and fed Marty White for the 3-0 goal at 8:28 banking it off Condon's soft, fluffy, cuddly chest. Marrazzo found Ammel through the crease for the "beautuful" back door goal at 6:31 to make it 3-1. Gamblers storm back at 6:10 after Stout got poke checked at the Gamblers blueline by Davis feeding Seely underneath a stretched out and sliding Scully ("wrong move") for a goal that was chipped up over Louras. Kings answered at 5:33 as Dupuis fed Cashman cutting up the far boards who cut across the line for the goal to regain the 2 goal lead. Cashman then fed Dupius with a no-look pass across the crease who one-timed it over Condon's "awful, awful, glove". After the aggression was out the goal scoring started coming. Marrazzo fed Harrington out front who fired a perfect low shot through the screen that was tipped by Meyer who then jammed in his own rebound while falling. Meyer scored again with 3:43 left, Gamblers on a roll, scoring on a backhander from Marrazzo's pass from the corner.
The score was 4-4 heading into the 3rd according to the game sheet, but was 5-4 according to the rink side game report, so who the fuck knows...I wasn't there yet, eh! Referee Greg Hadley let Stout have it for an attempted hip check on McIntyre and sent him home early with his 4th penalty of the night (although it wasn't listed on the game sheet). The Kings went up 5-4 officially at 12:59 after Cashman tipped it up over a downed Condon who went down on his knees early, as usual, off a White pass in front just after Harrington blocked a slapper but couldn't get back to cover Cashman in time. The Gamblers tied it on a "nice pass" from Seely to Davis at 9:12. The "Kings" actually outnumbered their opponent for the first time this season with 10 on the bench to the Gamblers 2 lines and 3D, but they looked like a bunch of idiots in mismatched jerseys because the game jerseys were late. Are they still the Storm Kings anyway since their precious jerseys are now for sale on E-Bay? They seem to be using their old Blackhawks jerseys instead. Too bad, JT made an amazing logo for the Kingers and their jerseys are cool, but they're just not cool enough for them anymore I guess... Well, Kyle Morin got the GWG for the Shithawks with 7:07 left by firing a puck from behind the goal line from the corner that went off Condon's skate into his net. The Gamblers could not tie it after calling a timeout, and for some unknown reason did NOT pull their goalie for the extra attacker and the "Gamblers go down in a heaping pile of shit" as put so eloquently by our rinkside reporter.

Too funny Shawn, the SHITHAWKS. That is exactly what they looked like with those awful jerseys. This one looked like it was going to end up in a bench clearing brawl halfway through.
It's funny though, sitting in the scorebox and watching the Storm Kings whack & hack all night long and then get upset when the Gamblers FINALLY had had enough of it and returned the favor. There are certain players that are very clean on the Kinger's but if you aren't going to police your own team, don't bitch about your opponent getting fired up and matching the type of play.
GREAT GAME to be a spectator at. |
