The Battle of the basement starts at the ground floor, when Tuck hosts the Whalers. Both teams have struggled this season in different ways. Tuck had a HELL of a time keeping pucks out of their own net to start while the Whalers just couldn't score enough goals.

This will be an even match for most of the game, but I just don't think the Whaler's defense can stop Adam "Preying" Mantis, Derek "Kojak" Nowak & Simon "The Bum Looker" McKay. Lallier will have to play another stellar game against the crafty trio. But, if the Whalers can keep their aggressive forecheck going all night & not flop like a fat man in a diving competition, then it should be interesting.

My prediction....Tuck walks away with a 5-3 win....possible empty netter.

Tuck climbs out of the Basement by Harpooning Whalers 1-0.

In one of the most boring games to EVER be played in the UVHL, the Tuck Tuckeroonies defeated the Whalers in a dismal 1-0 win. Tuck used two netminders in this one to combine for the shutout on 27 saves. Their own Ryan "Hot Fizz" Fitzgerald played the first period and then moved up to forward to help his short bench when Jered "The Condor" Condon showed up for the last two periods. At the other end of ice was Kenny "Le Gran Petit" Lallier who stopped 22 of 23 to earn a 1-0 loss. We all knew that these were the bottom dwellers of the league......and they really showed why in this snore fest. One spectator woke up late in the 3rd period and required medical attention to remove him from his own puddle of frozen drool. Maybe the two teams were focusing on playing a complete game to make sure that they came out on top, but someone needs to let them know that in MOST cases, you need to score more than 1 goal to win a game.

The only goal scorer in this one was Adam "The Preying" Mantin who beat Lallier halfway through the game on a feed from Nowak. Other than that ONE LONE GOAL, there were 5 penalties dispersed throughout the game, 2 for the Whalers & Three for Tuck. All 3 netminders were very good, but there just didn't seem to be that many quality scoring chances in this one. Although Tuck's Drew "Spin-O-Rama" Crapser filled his contractual obligation of 10 spin-o-ramas a game, which usually guarantees a win for Tuck.
