The Brewers are welcoming Nicky "The Dirty Stick" Bayley back with open arms after they got shallacked 5-2 by the lowly Whalers last week. The good thing about the Nordiques, is that the last time Bayley showed up, they beat them 5-3 like a rented mule. Bayley does draw a TON of attention but from both sides. The Brewers tend to throw everything at the doctor to be, hoping that he can work some magic, but since he was down in Miami for the past 4 months at his favorite Gay Resort, El Hombre Bung Holio, he hasn't had much time to practice his toe drags.

The Nordiques will be without a few key cogs, rolling with 2 lines & 4 defensemen. They had a tough loss to the Kingers last week 5-3, but played a solid game giving up a power play goal & empty netter in the waning minutes.

I think it all depends on Peter "The Meat Beater" Bartline, who has been less than good....borderline horrific. He leaves rebounds in the slot like niblets of crack for some hungry crack heads to jump on.

I'm just going by records here since it's a tough one to call.....so Nordiques will win 5-4.

Brewers Hold Off Nordiques 2-1.

The Nordiques hosted the Brewers in the middle game of the night in what always promises to be an interesting game. Nobody was happier than the Brewer's Danny "Cherry Garcia" Charrette who was PUMPED because playing at 8:05 meant that he would be home in time to finish off two gallons of his favorite Ben & Jerry's before midnight. These were wo competitive teams that have good history, but this one did draw a couple of matching unsportsmanlike conducts & was not, by any means, an offensive showcase, but more of a battle of the netminders. The Nordiques Johnny "Angry Fat Kid" Turner was excellent stopping 28 of 30, but the Brewers Petey "The Giant Net Nerd" Bartline was spectacular, as he stopped 32 of 33 including 3 BIG saves in the final 5 seconds to lock down the win.

The Brewers welcomed back ex-scoring champ Nick "Dr. McStick" Bayley from his retreat to the infamous Miami G.L.A.D. Ranch. Bayley was quoted as saying "Man it's good to be back.....but the beaches in Miami were sweet.....and those dudes.....er....I mean LADIES on the beach were so HOT." Bayley's return was extremely quiet, except for the neon green bucket he was wearing for a helmet.

Supplying all of the offense for the Brewers was Billy "The Kid" Fletcher who netted the first goal of the game at 12:06 of the first period and the game winner with just 3:26 to play in the game. The first goal started with a nice point shot from Brian Smith that was more of a pass to Brock "Lesnar" Barton who was all alone in the slot. Barton calmly stopped the pass faked wide and slid a backhander to Fletcher at the back door. Fletch snapped off a quick shot that dribbled past Turner who was coming across quickly. Other than that, the first period was pretty slow. No penalties were recorded and both netminders pushed 10 shots to the side.

The 2nd period started with the Nordiques capitalizing on a turnover in the Brewers end. Andy "Tha Pooch" Puchilak took the loose puck and fed Roger "The Bloody Dentist Drill" Phillips who beat Bartline cleanly at 12:06. The only other notable was that "Cherry Garcia" must have thought a Nordique was a big green chocolate bar and hooked him in an attempt to eat him, and went to the penalty box with 10:16 to go in the 2nd period.

The 3rd period was a tight chess game as there was good action in both ends. There was also a nice flow with few whistles until Fletcher scored his 2nd of the game, firing a quick shot from the top of the far faceoff dot, off of Shawn "The Pear Shaped Loser" McDermott's stick and up underneath the cross bar, glove side. Bartline was the difference maker as the Nordiques outplayed the Brewers in the 3rd. There were 4 unsportsmanlike calls in the last two minutes as Christian "The Devil" Isaac & Johnny "Appleseed" McGee went off at 1:50 for getting a little two hot in the collar. The Nords continued to press and Greg "The Butcher of Guelph" Marsh fired up Kevin "Cro-Mag" Calder taking them both out of the game with 0:36 to play. With the faceoff in the Brewer's zone, the Nordiques won the draw and moved the puck around getting a point shot with about 6 seconds to go that Bartline stopped through a screen. The rebound landed on Phillip's stick for another beaut of a save, quickly followed by a diving glove save when Kelly "Ankle Bending Loud Mouth" Park tried jamming home the loose puck. Bartline's glove save was AMAZING, but Garren "SLASH" Poirier covered the puck in his own crease, sending him to the box with 2 seconds to play. It was a useless execution of the rules seeing as the Nordiques couldn't win following faceoff.
