What is better than some Beer, Gambling & Hockey? NOTHING, but tonight the Brewers host the Gamblers in a defining game for this season. The Gamblers are resting up after a solid win over the high powered Storm Kings where their netminder, Jered "Dirty" Condon, was solid, only allowing 3 goals on 33 shots. The Brewers were dominating a the undefeated Nordiques, or Nor-DINKS as Danny "Fatass" Charette calls them, before self-destructing with a 4-1 lead and 6:30 to play. They allowed 3 goals, 2 in the last 40 seconds to cough up the win, but ultimately took 2 points on a Brock "Bubbles" Barton shootout dribbler.

Despite their late game despair, the Brewers are a well oiled machine, between the solid defense of Sean "No-Finish" McCabe, Danny "MASSHOLE" Charette, Kevin "Killer" Calder, Billy "The Kid" Fletcher & Garren "Stretch" Poirier. Their offense is powered by Barton, Al "The Fonz" Sorrentino, Chris "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" Johnson & Brian Smith.

The Gamblers, after a rough start, are rolling with back to back wins. Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo(4g, 5a), Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyer(5g, 3a) & Danny "The Animal" Ammel(4g, 4a) have terrifying defensive units all year. Their defensive unit has been inconsistent thus far, but Mikey "Hugs" Harrington & Scotty "Kisses" Fraser put fear in the eyes of their opponents.

The netminders will be the determining factor in this one, Petey "The Giant Net Condom" Bartline has been excellent, posting a 4-1-0 record and a 4.40 GAA. At the other end of the ice, Jered "J-ROD" Condon has been a rollercoaster at 2-3 with a 5.60 GAA.

I'm giving this one to the Brewers 6-4.

Gamblers Dismantle the Drunken Brewers, 6-2

Call it a Changing of Guard, An Upset, Pure Luck or Just One of Those Games: But the Gamblers look to have found their groove. With solid goaltending from J-Rod "Dirty" Condon, a Terrifying first line and a Rough & Tumble defensive corp, the Gamble look like contenders. The Brewers were riding a short bench tonight with only 4 players on their bench, and it did hurt their play. They didn't have a very good flow, looked out of sync and were just plain lazy. The Gamblers were powered by a 7 point night from their first line of Meyer-Marrazzo-Ammel and a 3 point performance from defenseman Guilbault. Rumors have it that Condon was looking for some change and wore a pink thong for good luck.

Despite their lack of energy the Brew Crew were able to hold off the Gambler's attack for over nine minutes while netting the first goal. The tally came from their ROOKIE combo as Brian "Smiley" Smith finished a Brock "Bubba" Barton to Billy "The Kid" Fletcher pass with 6:05 to play in the period. The Gamblers retorted exactly 30 seconds later, on the powerplay, when "Gullible" Kevin Guillbault beat the Brewer's Pete "The Meat" Bartline to knot the game at one. Less than a minute later there was a Mighty Mouse sighting as Willy Meyer jammed home his first of two on the night assisted by his BFF(Best Friend 4-Eva) Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo. The Mailman ALWAYS DELIVERS.

Little happened in the 2nd period......no penalties and no scoring for the first 12:44. The Brewers ended up being outshot 14-11 in a period that flowed much better than the first. Alfonse "The Fonz" Sorrentino, #7 on the Brewers, did take a couple minutes at the beginning to register for his AARP card through his mobile device while Garren "Stretch" Poirier researched weight gain & HGH. The Gamblers finally broke through on Bartline with 2:16 to go with a Guilbault to Scott "Dipsy-Doo" Davis connection for the 2 goal lead. Mighty Mouse was seen again 29 seconds later when he too took a Guilbault pass to the net for comfortable 3 goal lead. The Brewers Fletcher cut the lead back to 1 less than a minute later off of a pass from THE FONZ and to close out the scoring in the period with 1:23 to play.

The third period was all Gamblers as the Brewers were just trying to get to the bar as quickly as possible. Cody "Dicky" Dodds put the Gamblers up 5-2 and 12:46 to go from a nice "Big" Brucey Hathorn pass. The Brew Crew's Garren Poirier took his 2nd penalty of the game for a slash at 7:32 that led to a Danny "The Animal" Ammel goal with 7:20 to play and closing out the games scoring.

The Gamblers are on their way up, it seems, but the Brew Crew is a VERY good team and has a more complete game. Condon hasn't stolen a game yet, but if he does, and if the Brewers implode in the last 4-5 minutes again, Meyer and Marrazzo can mount a comeback. We'll just have to see, won't we?
