ODDS: | Tuck by 1 goal |
OVER/UNDER: | 7.5 goals |
The Nordiques are hoping to turn around a two game losing streak to Tuck this season with a big win against a Short Handed opponent. Tuck, who will be missing some major cogs in their dynamo hockey machine, will still be a worthy advisary as they do not have a weak player on their bench.
Tuck is hoping to keep their game intact, which uses every inch of the ice surface with great passing, speed & agility. They have been absolutely dominant this season holding a league best 8-1-1 record and getting just their second loss of the season last week in a shootout against the Kingers. Ryan Fitzgerald has been outstanding, hoisting a SCARY 2.40 gaa this season in 10 games. I mean seriously, who lets up under 2.5 goals a game in a MEN'S LEAGUE.
The Nordiques are riding a 3 game win streak, and coming off of a HUGE 13-2 schalacking of the Bruins. In all reality, if they Nords hadn't moved their defenseman up front and a couple of forwards who can't skate backwards back on Defense, this easily could have been an 18-0 game.
Even with a short bench and missing some of their big players, you can't bet against a solid Tuck squad, therefore they are getting my nod in what should be a close game.
My Prediction: Tuck 4, Nordiques 3
Nordiques outlast Tuck Short Bus.......I mean bench!
Nordiques @ Tuck.......3rd time this season that these two teams have faced off. With Tuck absolutely dominating the Nords 6-1 in week 1, then dismantling the Nords 5-2 in week 6, the Nordiques were looking for a 4-3 loss. But as luck would have it, Half of the Tuck team was on break from school and back home with family or too damn drunk to care about hockey after subjecting themselves to all nighters, no-doze & red bull for a week straight.
Despite the short bench, Tuck still had a a good portion of their key players there, with Hanbury, Burkhart, Kennedy, McGovern, Mantin, Mikoshiba, Lindeman, Cheng and All Star goaltender Fitzgerald. The Nordques were only missing Danny-boy Jones and were ready for battle.
The Nordiques struck first just over two minutes into the game as Adrien "The Mullet" Melrose, dumped the puck into the far corner. Roger "Blood Thinner" Phillips beat a Tuck defender to the puck down below the goal line and dished a perfect no-look behind the back back hand to Kelly "Garbage Goal" Park in the low slot, Park let rip a knuckle puck along the ice past a flailing Ryan "Spider Monkey" Fitzgerald. The Nordiques went up by 2 goals, just under 3 minutes later when Ian "Snaggle Tooth" Coates took a nice pass from "The Mullet" walked down the far boards and fired a MISSLE past the glove of "The Spider Monkey". The remaining 9:56 of the period was a chess match, with the Nordiques knowing just how dangerous that Tuck team could be. No penalties, very few shots and tons of turn overs.
END OF THE FIRST: Nordiques 2, Tuckerooonies 0
SHOTS: Nordiques 5, Tuckerooskies 8
The 2nd period was scoreless & penaltyless except for hooking call on Shawn "McNasty Buffalo Sauce" McDermott. The only other notable being Park blowing out his ACL on a seemingly innocuous play. Park picked up the puck in the neutral zone and went down 1 on 1 with Ryan "The Knee Breaker" McGovern. Kelly went to take a wrist shot at the hash marks, must have caught a rut and tore his ACL. "It all happened so fast, I wasn't sure what happened. I think I must have pulled my inner labia on that shot" Park said after the game. Nordiques captain Tao "The only way I can get in a write up is with some harsh comment" Smith said "Kelly you are just a giant pussy."
END OF THE SECOND: Nordiques 2, Tucksters 0
SHOTS: Nordicks 10, Tickles 19
The Nordiques struck first in the 3rd to go up 3-0 when Richie "Scoring is for sissy's, it takes a real man to miss the net all the time" McKenna beat Fitzgerald with a low slapshot on a pass from Coatsy. Tuck FINALLY broke through on Turner with 9:39 remaining in the game when he broke down the far boards, cut to the slot on his forehand and beat Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner mid-glove from the top of the crease.
The rest of the game was all Tuck, even with only 3 subs on the bench. Johnny Turner was outstanding, turning away 11 in the 3rd frame.
END OF REGULATION: Nordiques 3, Tuckers 1
SHOTS: Nordiques 14, Tuck 30
