Tuck hammers Storm Kings 12-4 with taste of own medicine Feb 6th
Several top players were missing from this game for both teams, the benches were light with 8 Tuckies and 9 Kingers, but it turned into a scorefest anyways! The first period was evenly played and the goals and PIM's worked out equally at the end of 15 minutes of play. Tuck started the scoring at 11:25 when Scott Turco found the back of the net off feeds from Jamie Greenthal and Brian Fleming. Soon after Tuck co-captain Alek Roomet spent time in the box for high sticking at 10:45. Play was back and forth for more than half a period until Dean Cashman, the Storm Kings captain, went for a hook at 5:13. Neither team could capitalize on the PP. Late in the period Kelly Park scored off a pass from Cashman at 1:27 to send it to the second tied 1-1.
Tuck took control of the game with 4 unanswered goals starting with Martin's unassisted tally at 12:38, and then another quick one less than 10 seconds later catching the Storm Kings napping at 12:29 from Turco with Fleming getting another assist. Tuck got two more in less than a minute to complete the 4-goal onslaught after Fleming got his first of the game at 9:50 from Martin, and then continued the hot streak scoring again negating a delayed penalty call on the Storm Kings Tom Scull for holding at 9:11 with the goal fed by sniper Hanbury. Park cut the lead to 5-2 when he scored again at 6:28 from D-man Andy Weber. Marty White then found Weber who set-up Dan Bullock for the goal at 5:07 to make it 5-3. Tuck re-gained their 3-goal lead with only 23 seconds in the period on Fleming's 3rd goal of the period, 3rd consecutive Tuck goal, and first UVHL Hatty off feeds from Turco and Roomet, and the period ended 6-3 Tuck.
In the third matching roughing minors to Roomet and Scull sent them both to the box at 13:00, and while they were there 5-on-5 play continued and Bullock got his second of the game to cut the lead back to two at 11:27 off a pass from John Murphy. Martin went to Tuck's box at 10:39 for tripping, and Turco got a shorty at 10:06 from Fleming and Pat Fox. Tuck continued to roll and after he got out of the box Martin netted his second of the game at 8:29 from Hanbury and Roomet. Turco scored his 4th of the contest at 6:13 from the red hot Fleming and Hanbury. Scull got his 3rd penalty of the game at 5:30 for a high stick and Martin got the PPG at 4:33 from, guess who, Fleming, and that completed his UVHL career high 8-point night! Martin wasn't happy with a paltry 3 goals, so he scored his fourth of the game and third of the period at 3:47 from Roomet, who added his 3rd assist. Hanbury didn't want to be left out of the goal scorer's column, and ended the scoring with 2:22 left from Turco, who added his second assist and 6th point to finish the game with 6 unanswered Tuck goals and a 12-4 rout of the Kings.
