Tuck runs away with 10-3 win over Bruins on 1/9.
There was literally nothing they could do. Tuck was all over them. Tuck controlled the play, determined the pace of the game, and toyed with them for 45 minutes. The Bruins had a rough one on this night, and without their best player in Matt Marrazzo, the scoring threat and power down the left wing was noticeably absent from the line-up. Hadley's sore back kept him out of the pipes and JT stood in in his place as Hads patrolled the wing instead.
As usual, Tuck started fast out of the gate, and Brian Fleming scored at 14:21 from Ben Kennedy. At 13:03 it was Scott Turco working some individual magic with an unassisted goal to put the Tuckies up 2-0 not even 2 minutes into the game. Less than 3 minutes in it was 3-0 on Jamie Greenthal's goal art 12:22 from Gary Hunter. The period settled down once Tuck had a comfortable lead, but the scoring ended at three.
In the second, Kelly Park found a rare hole through Anik Cote to make it 3-1 at 10:33 assisted by Scott Fraser. Tuck answered with 4 unanswered goals to seal the game. Alex Tatum got the eventual game winner with an unassisted goal at 8:52, and then Kennedy added another unassisted marker at 4:04 to go with his assist. Fleming tallied his second at 3:12 from Hunter, followed byTurco's second at 1:51 from Alek Roomet on the blueline. Mike Harrington ended the period with a goal from the Bruins as he made the jump from D to forward, and he was the best player for the Bruins once he made the switch. He stole more pucks and caused more turnovers than anyone, and he topped it all off with a goal at 0:42 from the hustling Don Powers and playmaker Dave DeSchamp. There were no penalties in the game to this point, and the period ended 7-2 for Tuck.
The final period saw the Bruins continue some of their momentum, and Powers scored to string two together for the B's at 11:19 from Park. The Bruins had two PP opportunities pass them by as they went scoreless with the extra attacker while Pat Fox was in for hooking at 11:05 and Mark Hanrahan got sent for tripping at 7:08. Unfortunately for the B's they gave up a shorty to Peter Hanbury at 5:18 to add insult to injury from Trevor Martin. Chris Mudge went to the B's box for hooking at 6:32, and Hanbury scored again from Greenthal and Turco. One goal got turned back for Tuck after Hunter deflected the puck above his shoulders, but he must have tipped at least 7 or 8 pucks in front of JT, and that was the only one that found its way in, even though it didn't count. The final tally came at 3:02 when Martin found the back of the net from Michelle Labbe. One of the third period goals, I can't remember which, was sick goal that JT played perfectly and just got beat by a shot in tight that went up over JT's shoulder under the crossbar at the side of the net as the butterfly-style goaltender had the post and lower net protected leaving only the space between his ear and shoulder for the puck to slip through. And through it did, and JT said post-game "I couldn't have played that one any better", and I must agree, so we tip our collective hats to the Tuck sniper who found the tiny hole in tight over JT's shoulder for a beauty!
