Not even legendary Brad Park could save the Nords losing 8-2 vs. Potter.

It would have been even uglier if Brad Park hadn't made a special guest appearance alongside his son Kelly on the blueline for the Nordiques donning a burgundy & white # 9 (his childhood # in fact) on 4/1/06. Kelly had e-mailed the Commish (yours truly) earlier in the week to let him know that he wouldn't be making the game because "his dad was coming into town on his way back from Lake Placid". Huh? Like your Dad wouldn't understand about you going to a frickin' hockey game, Kelly? Where was he when you were a kid? On the road maybe for the Rangers, Bruins or Red Wings, oh, and for Team Canada, too? In any case the trash talk started and the Commish encouraged Kelly to convince his Dad to bring his equipment and suit up for the sure to be light Nordiques, and so he did! Brad paid part of the hockey debt to his son in a touching show of love for his mutli-talented boy and took one for the team gracing Campion Rink with his skill and experience and giving the refs and fans a thrill to see a living legend in action! The only penalty of the first sent to Potter's Bruce Hathorn at 14:39 for tripping, but the Nords couldn't convert. However, Potter scored early in the first at 11:25 on Justin Barwood's unassisted effort to go up 1-0. The helmetless Hall of Famer looked wicked shaaaaarp in the Nords colors nonetheless, and scored his first official UVHL point and the first ever UVHL point for an NHL Hall of Famer setting up sonny boy Kelly for a tieing goal at 6:25 of the first after Park Junior skated through 3 Potter defenders all the wile talking trash and showing off for Daddy as he tucked one under Jake Obar. However, it was all Potter Construction and Jake Obar after that, and they skated for 7 unanswered goals and Obar continued his unbelievable play in net and UVHL leading GAA. Kevin Guilbault put Potter up 2-1 scoring at 4:10 from Gino Riffle and Barwood. Will Meyer scored and continued his multi-point streak at 1:31 from Gary Smith. In the second Tom Crapser put his team further ahead at 10:41 from Meyer and Riffle. Hathorn made up for his early penalty scoring at 7:17 assisted by Barwood, who got 3 points from the blueline in this game earning a POW nod. At 4:58 Seth Warren went to the box for the Nords for hooking, but at least the Nords could kill off a penalty even if they couldn't score 5-on-5 and the score remained 5-1. Late in the second Hathorn took another penalty with 23 seconds to go for hooking (use your feet Bruce!). There was about 9 minutes of scoreless hockey to start the third, but Smith got an unassisted goal going in alone off a lucky bounce just outside the Nords blueline at 5:55 to make it 6-1 in favor of Potter. Meyer scored his second of the game, and with it became only of two multiple goal scorers for Potter in this contest, thereby showing their capability of a balanced and lethal attack and offense, and got it only 15 seconds after smith's goal, but it wasn't unassisted as Josh Obar got in on the action feeding Meyer from the blueline. Potter finally finished their scoring at 4:23 on Gilly's second of the game from Dan McGee, who is suspiciously absent from the UVHL's list of scoring and PPG leaders. Meyer added to another column of his stats going to the box at 3:07 for tripping, and Nords center Seth Warren scored his second goal in two games against Potter, this one being a shorty from Matt Authier who got Warren the puck in front after some hard forechecking and work in the corners at 1:51.
