Nordiques even season series with 6-2 victory over Bruins
Shortened benches did not take away from the quality of this game, and yet another guest goalie was in net for the Bruins and this author must apologize to the goaltender and the readers as he does not have a name of the apparently former D1 lady goalie in net for the Bruins this evening, only an image of her making some sick saves. However, heroics in net weren't enough to get the Bruins past the Nords in this game as the Nords were determined to even the season series at 2-2 after this game was over, not only for pride, but in case the Bruins were to tie the Nords in the standings and take over second place and earn a first round bye. The Bruins have been the hottest UVHL team as of late, and have found their team game this season and are playing as well as they ever have, no matter who is in net. The Nords were victimized by Tony DeFelice when last they met as DeFelice joined a very elite group of UVHLers with 5 goals in the game, so the Nords were determined to keep Defelice off the scoresheet as well. The first 11 minutes were scoreless and both goalies turned away chances until Will Meyer solved the B's guest lady tender at 3:59 on an unassisted effort. The only penalty of the first was to the Nords Dave Willis at 9:18 for hooking but the Nords killed it off. To start the second the Bruins found themselves one down with Scott Fraser in the box at 13:28 for bodychecking, but the B's turned away all chances on that PP until another Bruin was in the box shortly thereafter at 12:04, Mike Harrington for slashing, and Meyer scored his second in a row on the PP at 10:37 from his playmaking center Ian Coates. Kelly Park went to the box for the Nords for hooking at 9:16, but Dan Coffey pinched in from the point and scored a shorty at 8:13 after Coates found him open in the slot. Nords forward Greg Marsh spent time in the sin bin for roughing at 3:23 but the Bruins did not capitalize. Meyer scored his third goal of the game with 1:04 to go in the second from Park to end the period 4-0. Coates received a minor for unsportsmanlike after 5 minutes of scoreless hockey to start the third at 10:02, and meyer continued the heriocs and the Nords shorthanded magic with another strong unassisted effort to make it 5-0 Nords. Bruins forward Don Powers found himself in the box at 8:48 for holding, and DeFelice was not to be denied with a shorty of his own to answer for the Bruins at 7:05 from Seth Warren and Alec Jessiman. Matt Marrazzo found the Nords net as he often does with 2:52 left to go from Jessiman with his second assist. Dan Coffey scored his second of the game to end the scoring at 2:27 from Meyer and Dan Jones.
