Kings come from behind vs. Leafs 9-6 on 1/10!
The Leafs stormed out to a 2-1 lead after the first period and Ken Lallier stood on his 40-Something Year Old Goalie head yet again, and it could have been all over for the Storm Kings if Ryan Sinclair didn't step-up in the second AND third periods. After almost half a scoreless first period the Leafs' Dave Fitts buried a goal at 7:23 from Justin Wing and Kyle Manny. The Kingers were held off until 2:47 of the first when Kelly Park finally solved Lallier off a pass from Dean Cashman. Fitts made it two goals for the period (both of them nice ones, too!) capitalizing on Doug Heavisides' pass at 1:14. Just after the second Fitts goal Todd Nalette took a hooking minor and the Kingers made the Leafs pay for it at 14:28 of the second on a Sean Coakley unassisted PP effort. Use your feet, not your stick, Nalette! The Leafs went ahead again on Justin Wing's goal assisted by Chris Gogan at 10:46, and then followed-up with a Chip Davis marker only 13 seconds later from Jason Loomis and Wing to make it 4-2 Leafs. Ryan Sinclair then completed a second period Natural Hat Trick to put the Storm Kings up 5-4 scoring at 6:12 from Coakley, at 1:40 from Marty White, and at 0:59 from Coakley and Park. Not to be outdone, the Leafs rallied and answered 11 seconds later ending the Sinc goal streak at 3 to tie it up at 5 aside going into the third period on a Doug Heavisides goal at 0:48 with assists going to Fitts and Fred Redden. The Leafs squandered two power plays in the second while Tom Scull was in the box at 6:06 for tripping and John murphy was in the box at 5:22 for holding, some of it 5-on-3, but no dice. However, it was anyone's game when the third started and the Kings looked stunned for much of the first and second, but Sinc started to roll yet again early in the third to seal the deal and, I believe, the first comeback victory for the Kings. Sinc scored the King's fourth goal in a row at 13:32 of the third from linemates Coakley and Cashman, and then assisted with Tony Pippen on Coakley's goal at 13:15 only to garner yet another assist at 12:54 on Cashman's goal. The third period brain fart of the Leafs lasted less than a minute and a half, but that was all Sinclair needed to engineer their demise. Goose Gosselin added insult to injury at 5:50 making the score 9-5 on an unassisted goal of his own. Sinclair had enough at 5:05 and made sure he was ejected after arguing his interference penalty getting the extra unsportsmanlike along with it hoping to balance out his awesome scoring stats with some penalties so he doesn't look like a pussy (and can we ever forget when Sinc dropped the golves in the Tuck's corner last season? Didn't think so! Nobody on Tuck took the Sinc challenge after he got pissed off from being bodychecked and man-handled all night. It was awesome!). Fred Redden narrowed the margin of defeat at 0:32 from Nalette to leave it at 9-6 in "The game that got away".
