Tuck Dominates Dead River: 7-3

The Tuck Flying Swans improved to 4-7-0 on this young season after handily dispatching the Dead River Oilers 7-3. The hapless DR team dropped to 1-10-0 and continues to have roster issues.

Dead River pulled in a quartet of subs for tonights game in Kelly "Plus/Minus Nightmare" Park, Ian "Toothless" Coates, Pierce "Mayhem" Mayhew and Chris "Smoke a..." Dubin. The four additions helped round out the roster, but couldn't have a positive impact on this game.

The most unfortunate story of the game was that Dead River's goaltender Greg "Go Jihad" Feiden is still winless on the season as he struggles to adapt to the 5-0 offensive system that his team plays. By 5-0 I'm talking about how they play like five forwards and zero defensemen. We are officially naming a trophy after Feiden for the most good natured humanitarian of the year who doesn't end up deservedly killing his teammates in a fit of rage. It will be called the "Bin Feiden Award" and he will most likely be the annual winner until he jumps off the Quechee Gorge or goes Jihad on his team.

Back to the game. Tuck put together a solid night with a touchdown against Dead River. Spurred by Josh "Cherry" Cherney who potted four goals and had the fans in the stands toss their hats on the ice when he completed the hat trick. Seriously, there were fans at the game and seriously they threw their hats on the ice. Cherney was fantastic, scoring his teams first, third, fourth and seventh goals. He scored the go-ahead goal early in the first period and the eventual game winner 7 minutes later.

Tuck's defensive gem Scotty "Wreckingball" Howard received Player Of the Week nomination for his stellar defensive play and contributing a goal and pair of assists on the night.

Dead River's Kyle "Sherpa" Koetsier was the only highlight for his team as he tallied a pair of goals and an assist on the night.

Tuck's Benny "The Tower" Dower was good enough for a win, but wasn't required to be spectacular. He only saw 16 shots over 45 minutes and probably got a couple of good cat naps in during the game.

Tuck has some key players that could make them a contender this season. If they have all of their top players in the lineup they can wreak havoc on this league.
