Tuck Survives Dead River, Prevails in Shootout 4-3.

The Tuckies looked great early, looked rough for 2 periods and then scored 4 out of 5 in the shootout to take a game they should have won handily. Dead River's Greg "First Period" Feiden lived up to his nickname and let 3 goals past him in the first period, then shut the door for the remainder of regulation to force a shootout.

Both goaltenders, Feiden (44 saves) & Tuck's Steve "The Beav" Kenning(38 saves) were outstanding in a game that saw 82 pucks peppered on net.

Tuck jumped all over Dead River in the first 5 minutes of play, tallying a pair of goals from James "The Farmer" Hay & Parker "Posey" Lytle. Hay broke the ice just 3:06 into the game from Josh Cherney & Andrew "Hellboy" Helming and then added an assist on Parker "Lewis" Lytle's tally 53 seconds later.

Things were NOT looking good for Dead River, especially after most of Tuck's roster had missed the past 4 weeks of hockey due to a Vacation Bug that was going around campus. Tuck was also missing some crucial cogs in their hockey machine as Coughlin, Johnson & Barnett were nowhere to be found.

Cherney made it 3-0 with 2:19 remaining in the first off of a BEAUTIFUL 50 foot breakaway pass from Ryan "El Magnifico" McGovern. Cherney broke in on Feiden all alone and schooled him like a pedophile teacher in grade school.

END OF THE FIRST: Tuck 3, Dead River 0

Tuck looked like they were in complete control after the first period and carried that energy into the second frame until Robbie "Beefcake" Pattison took a "Mean" Dean Cashman pass, dangled a little bit and fired a laser past Kenning at 11:05.

Dead River needed to kill a Ricky "Sticky" Hughes holding penalty in order to keep things close, and ended the second period strong.

END OF THE SECOND: Tuck 3, Dead River 1

Tuck looked as if they were still hung over from the new year as their legs stopped moving and Dead River continued to press. Hughes cut the lead to one with 9:21 remaining after another Cashman pass put him in the high slot for the tally. Tuck had to kill off their own penalty after McGovern tripped up a Dead River Rat deep in his zone. The penalty was successfully killed off but Cashman and Pattison hooked up again like long lost lovers with 3:30 to play to tie the game. Pattison did some dipsy-doing at the top of the zone before firing a quick snap pass at Cashman in front of the net that Cashman tipped up and over Kenning to tie the game.

END OF REGULATION: Tuck 3, Dead River 3

Dead River chose to shoot first and Pattison converted with a move to his backhand and a roofie that would make most date rapists jealous.

Feiden stopped Cherney on a 5-hole attempt to keep Dead River up 1-0 in a best of 3.

Kenning shut down a solid attempt by Chris "Wiggity" Warrington.

Hay beat Feiden with a quick shot, high Blocker side, which was about to become a recurring theme. Shootout Tied at 1 apiece

Evan Duggan put DR up 2-1 in the shootout with a move to his backhand.

Stevie Bates "Motel" tied it at 2 apiece with a QUICK SHOT HIGH BLOCKER SIDE.

"Mean" Dean Cashman made it 3-2 with a deke before sliding the puck 4-hole.

Andrew "Hellboy" Helming tied it again with ANOTHER QUICK SHOT HIGH BLOCKER SIDE.

Kenning stuffed Ricky Golden "Showers" to keep the shootout tied at 3.

Ryan McGovern had an interesting shootout move to win the game as he bobbled the puck at the hashmarks and threw a backhander that squeeked through Feiden for the game winner.

Maybe Feiden was thinking about how he was going to be roasted with his new nickname is now Greg "High Blocker Side" Feiden on the website instead of focusing on keeping his wickets closed. Regardless, Tuck wins in the 5th round of the shootout.
