Kings storm the net 10 times against the Leafs on 12/5.

We now all have hope. Marty White, the veteran elder leader of the Storm Kings, came through with a 6-point night at 49 years old for a very deserving Player of the Week nomination. If Marty can do it, then you can, too! What a performance! Now, I'm not going to try and make Marty's head any bigger with all this ego-building, but he was awesome. He got as many points as a D1 captain from last season more than 25 years his junior, and tied for second with many famous UVHLers for most points in a game. Maybe circles ARE effective strategery for a playmaking offense, or maybe feeding said former D1 captain for 4 goals is just as effective. Whatever your preference for getting on the scoresheet, White had a fantastic outing, AND he is one of the oldest players in the league! Who's yer daddy? Maybe it is Marty, because he sure is old and cranky enough for the job for a large proportion of UVHLers, but this game put a perma-smile on his salt'n'peppa beard at OTG. He even had a slight glow emanating from the wrinkles around his grin everytime someone congratulated him on his fine game. He played really well, just ask him! White even started the scoring at 6:51 from Tom Scull and Kelly Park after the game settled down once the Storm Kings got used to the speedy forecheck of the new look Leafs. The only other goal of the first period came late at 0:17 on Greg Gosselin's unassisted goal to make it 2-0 going into the second. Adam Hogg scored two in a row at 11:16 from Park and White, and then at 10:33 from Cashman and White. Cashman score 23 seconds later at 10:10 from Scull and Hogg. Hogg netted another at 7:36 from Park and White as the Kingers just passed around the helpless Leafs in the Leafs zone as the Storm King offense really started to click in the second period. Park scored late in the period from Gosselin at 0:42, and then Goose scored at 13:17 of the third from Hogg to complete 8 unanswered goals by the Storm Kings. The Leafs got on the board at 11:17 on Dave Fitts' goal assisted by Amy LeClair and Dave Bouthillier, but any momentum was ruined by the only penalty of the game at 10:47 by Colin Vernon as the Kingers scored on the PP at 9:41 by Scull assisted by White and Close. Hogger got his 4th of the game at 4:21 to end the Kings scoring from Cashman and White, whose line combined for a total of 15 points. Boots added a goal to go with his assist, and Fitts added an assist to go with his goal at 2:09 also helped by defenseman Kirt Johnson.

(Post Script added by Kelly Park)
It was total domination by a very good puck moving team, but one thing the score doesn't tell is how STELLAR Maple Leafs Goaltender, Kenny Lallier was. Kenny easiliy made 20 outstanding saves trying to keep his team in the game, yet did NOT receive any help in his defensive zone. At least 7 of the goals he let up were odd man rushes / tick-tack-toe plays that even Martin Broduer would have trouble stopping. Please.....for the sake of Kenny's sanity, PLEASE work on defensive zone coverage & keeping a man high in the offensive zone at all times, for I fear Kenny may hurt himself or someone else. Kenny you are in my prayers......hourly!
