Bruins hold off Leaf surge with 3-2 victory late in 3rd period

These teams battled each period and matched scoring in all frames except one, and that was the difference in this 1-goal game. Both squads looked ready and came out hard, but the first entries on the scoresheet were penalties because we could not keep track of the great saves being made at both ends of the ice! The Bruins looked wicked shaaaap in their new yellow jerseys, and finally for his last game Alec Jessiman had his very own #29 jersey instead of Hadley's extra goalie #39 for a going away present. Jessiman unfortunately leaves the Upper Valley for a longer golf season and other career opportunities and played his last UVHL game tonight. The B's killed off Tony DeFelice's penalty at 6:46 for hooking, but scored a shorty at 3:46 after Matt Marrazzo netted an unassisted effort (that I believe actually had no assist) while teammate Jay Smith was in the box for hooking at 4:22 to make it 1-0. The Leafs went to their penalty box at 11:09 of the second on Fred Redden's high stick, and then went again at 6:41 on Todd Nalette's' holding infraction that teh Bruins capitalized on at 6:13 when co-captain Jay Smith scored from the Castleton Connection of Mike Rooney and Steve Gieger to put the B's up 2-0. The Leafs answered with an unassisted effort of their own at 4:05 when Jeff Stocker scored to make it 2-1. Bruins' D Scott Bishop lost his cool on Leaf winger Fred Redden after getting knocked down on incidental contact (I was in the corner where it happened and watched the whole thing) and then Bish was lucky that was the only thing someone lost as he went at Redden's dangling manhood FROM BEHIND with a vicious high stick in the balls! Bullshit! Redden sloughed it off, luckily, and kept his cool as Bishop was rightfully sent home for the night and next week for the deliberate intent to injure. Rawley Massoth served Bish's major penalty, but the Leafs could not score with a 5-minute man advantage! Hadley was solid, but the Leaf attack was impotent and they didn't get much going at all to be honest. A pissed off Redden scored at 5:17 of the third (Was it a slapper from the top of the crease? I was getting dressed so I didn't see it...) from Todd Nalette to tie the game at 2-2. Barely 3 minutes later Marrazzo scored his second of the game and GWG at 2:10 from Massoth. Redden went to the box for slashing at 1:55 and the B's coasted to the win on the PP outlasting the Leafs.
