Gamblers hang on in a sloppy game of hockey

In the first game of the night the Jacks hosted the Gamblers.  The Jacks didn't waste any time to get on the scoreboard as Patrick McDonough scored a nasty Pasternak like goal; going bardown short side on his backhand at 13:23 as this might have been the goal of the year.  The Gamblers settled down after giving up a quick goal and put some pressure on the Jack which forced Jordan McGee to take a tripping penalty.  On the PP the Gamblers Topo LaCroix “Thing 1” tied the game up at 6:43.  Later in the period the Gamblers Ryan LaCroix “Thing 2” would pick up a turnover in the neutral zone, he crossed the blue line and ripped a slapper short side on Libbey to put the Gamblers up 2-1 with 3:37. The period would end with the Gamblers up 2-1 heading into the second.

In the second period Nick “Wrap around” Hall would tie the game at 2-2 when he got his first wrap around goal of the night at 10:15 mark. The Gamblers would answer back when a shot from Will Meyer pinballed it’s way off some defenders in front of the goalie into the net.  The score would remain the same until Nick “wrap around” Hall scores his second wrap around goal on the PP to the game at 3-3 with 3:53 remaining.  The Gamblers would answer back as Topo “Thing 1” would break up a play and send Goose “Thing 2” in on a 2-1 on vs Jacks defender, Goose looked off passing and beat Libbey for his second of the night to put the Gamblers up 4-3.   The Jacks didn’t back down as Jay Zanleoni notched one of his own with 26 seconds left in the period, to make the score 4-4 heading into the third.

In the third both teams would get some chances, but it would be the Gamblers who would get a power play opportunity at the 11:40 mark. The Jacks were able to kill the PP and not allow a goal, however shortly after the D coughed the puck up to Will Meyer who then had a 2-0 vs Libbey, Meyer would take a terrible shot in which Libbey would save. Meyer would get his own rebound and pass the puck across the front of the crease to Goose to bury his third goal of the night; the Gamblers are now 5-4 with 8:31 left in the game. The Jacks would push back but solid goaltending from Luke McCormick in the third would seal the win for the Gamblers in a sloppy hockey game for both teams.
