In the late game we had the Blues hosting the Whalers. Tonight's game was a battle between the first place Whalers and the Second place Blues, the Whalers had a short bench and the Whalers had two full lines. The first period saw no goals and the Whalers got the only power play chance in the first, but they couldn't cash in. The Blues outshot the Whalers 10-7.
In the second the Blues got on the board first on a goal from Bart Moran at 12:09. The Whalers would answer back at 6:31 on a goal from Pete Scalia to tie the game at 1-1. The Blues Brian Smith would then put the Blues up 2-1 on a goal with just 44 seconds left in the period. The Blues would head into the 3rd with a 2-1 lead.
In the third the the Whalers would come out hungry looking for the tying goal, but it was the Blues who would get the next goal at 5:53 from Bart Moran (his second of the night) to put the Blues up 3-1. The game would end with the Blues winning 3-1 however the Whalers outshot the Blues 10-7 in the third, but Jay Seals finished the night with 33 saves on 34 shots.
