Jacks and Tuck Battle for 3rd

In the first game of the night we have the Jacks hosting Tuck which has a lot on the lines. If the Jacks can beat Tuck their is a very good chance they will finish in 3rd place in the regular season.  These two teams have split the two games that they have played against each other but the most recent game 1/15 saw Tuck win the game by 5-1.  Look for this game to be close but if Tuck doesn't have an answer for the Jacks high flying offense this game will be all Jacks. The Jacks will go on to win this game by the score of 4-2 with an empty netter to lock up 3rd place in the standings. 

In the first game of the night we had the Jacks hosting Tuck. The winner of this game would lock up not playing in the 4 vs. 5 game on 2/24. Although the roads were bad both teams showed up with full rosters and were ready to play some hockey. Tuck took two penalties in a row but it was Tuck who would strike first on a short handed goal from Pat Doherty at 7:10 mark. Tuck would then go up 2-0 on Doherty's second goal of the night with 3:26 remaining. The Jacks would cut the lead down to one after Joe Gaudet notched his first goal for the game just 9 seconds later (3:17). With the scored 2-1 Tuck, Tuck could not stay out of the box again as they would take two penalties with less then 2 minutes left in the period to give the Jacks a 5 on 3 chance to tie the game. On the PP the Jacks wasted no time tying the game up at 2-2 on Joe Gaudet's second goal of the night with 43 second left in the period. The period would come to end with the score tied 2-2 and the Jacks were still on a PP heading into the second because they scored so quickly on the 5 on 3.

At the start of the second period the Jacks Joe Gaudet notched his third goal on the PP just 13 seconds into the second period to give the Jacks their first lead of the night. With teams back to even strength Tuck picked up their play and it was Andrew Cox who would tie the game up at 3-3 at the 13:23 mark. Tuck's John Fulham would put Tuck up 4-3 at the 10:27 mark. Tuck would continue to keep their foot on the gas pedal as Mark Piana would put Tuck up 5-3 with 4:50 remaining in the period. After giving up a goal the Jacks would take a penalty and while on the PP Tuck's Chris Mahoney would cash in at 2:53 to give Tuck a 6-3 lead heading into the third period.

In the third the Jacks regrouped after giving up four straight goals in the second period as Jordan McGee would pull the Jacks within two goals when he notched his first goal of the nigh at 12:31 making the score 6-4 Tuck. The Jacks kept the pressure on and Joe Gaudet would get his 4th goal of the night at 9:19 to make the score 6-5 Tuck. After giving up two quick goals Tuck picked up their play as Brodie Stone would put Tuck up 7-5 just 40 seconds later (8:42). With Tuck up by two goals, the Jacks put everything they had at Tuck but they were unable to get anything past Tuck's Lindsay Holdcroft. Tuck's Andrew Cox would add an insurance goal with 1:39 left in the game to give Tuck an 8-5 win and locking up 2nd or 3rd place depending on how their last game goes.
