In the second game of the night we had the Gamblers hosting the Whalers. The game started out with the Gamblers getting on the board first on a goal from Goose LaCroix at 13:54. The would then score again about 3 minutes later this time the goal coming from Travis Poublon to put the Gamblers up 2-0. Although the Gamblers grabbed the early lead the Whalers would push back but they were not able to get the puck past Tucker Garrity-Hanchett in the first. The Gamblers would close the period out with a goal from Goose LaCroix (3:59) to head into the second period with a 3-0 lead.
In the second period the Whalers came out hungry and got back in the game with a goal from Ben Rouillard just 50 seconds into the period. After giving up a quick goal the Gamblers would take a slashing penalty which they would kill off but the Whalers were still pressing. Tempers would flare as the Gamblers Jason Young would get a DQ for fighting and a 2 minute penalty for cross checking, while the Whalers Chuck Watters would get a DQ for fighting. Please remember this league is competitive but is for fun and we ALL have to work the next day!!! After penalty trouble for the Gamblers, the Whalers would make the score 3-2 on a goal from Marc Stannard at 5:29. The Gamblers Travis Poublon would get his second of the night and make the score 4-2 Gamblers with 3:22 remaining. As the period came to an end the Whalers never gave up and would make the score 4-3 on a goal from Ryan Quinn with 53 seconds left in the period. The period would end with the Gamblers up 4-3 but the Whalers were playing some great hockey.
In the third period the Gamblers were feeling the pressure and they would extend their lead to 5-3 on a shorthanded goal by Goose LaCroix (3rd goal of the night) at 9:13 mark. Although the Whalers were trailing by two, they keep fighting back into the game and this time Dillon Pierce would make the score 5-4 at 6:49. The Gamblers top line would jump on the ice after the goal and Will Meyer wasted no time putting the Gamblers back up 6-4 at 6:13. The score would remain the same until 1:10 mark when Ryan Quinn would notch his second goal of the night and make the score 6-5. The Whalers would pull their goalie and fire everything they could at the Gamblers but the Gamblers would hold on to win the game by the score of 6-5.
