In the first game of the night we had the Jacks hosting the Whalers. Due to the weather both teams had short benches; the Jacks had 6 players and a goalie and the Whalers had 7 players and a goalie. The game started out slow as both teams were trying to conserve energy; however the Whalers Mike Avery gave the Whalers the early lead with 12:32 left in the period. Both teams would have a bunch more chances and the Jacks would finally tie the score on a goal from Jordan McGee with 4:46 remaining. The period would end with the score tied at 1-1.
In the second period the Whalers would pick up their play and pepper the Jacks tender Ryan Libby. Libby would make save after save until the 7:00 mark as Dillan Pierce would put the Whalers up 2-1. The Jacks would answer back just minute and 20 seconds later when Jordan McGee got his second goal of the night to tie the score at 2-2. The Jacks Jordan McGee would notch his third goal of the night again a minute and twenty seconds later to make the score 3-2 with 4:20 remaining. The Jacks would get one more late goal with 39 seconds left in the period from Brian Racicot to make the score 4-2 heading into the third period.
In the third the Jacks would keep the pressure on and extend their lead to 5-2 on a goal from Marc Gattie with 13:21 remaining. The Whalers would not let up as they again would pepper Libby with shots all night and at the 6:16 mark they were able to make the score 5-3 on Mike Avery's second goal of the night. The Jacks would close out the game with a goal from Nico Brands with 1:11 left in the game, to give the Jacks a 6-3 win. It should be noted that the Jacks Ryan Libby made a ridiculous 51 saves!!!
