In the first game we had the Jacks hosting the Whalers. The Whalers came out hungry and took it to the Jacks right from the first puck drop but it was the Jacks who got on the board first with Gary LaPerle making the score 1-0 a 1:30 into the period. Although the Whalers gave up the first goal, they would score the next two, the first from Dillan Pierce at 8:46 and the second from Chuck Gaede at 7:54. The Whalers lead would only last for 55 seconds as the Jacks Jay Zanleoni would tie the score at two at 6:59. The Jacks Tim Patten would score just 18 seconds later to put the Jacks up 3-2. As the period came to an end the Whalers Ryan Quinn tie the score at 3-3 with 2:07 remaining and that is how the period would end. The Jacks Chris Pelkey made 14 saves in the first and the Whalers Kenny Lallier would make 8 saves.
The second period was much like the first with back and forth action as the Jacks picked up their play which resulted in three goals in the period. The Jacks first goal was scored by Tyler Dewdney at 9:10, the second and third goals of the period were scored by Tim Patten (for the hat trick) at 1:03 and 18 second remaining to make the score 6-3 heading into the third. Again if the Jacks didn't have Pelkey in net as he made 17 saves in the second to keep the Whalers off the scoreboard. The Whalers Lallier had 11 saves in the second.
In the third the Jacks and Whalers would continue to battle and the Jack would take a penalty with 7:46 left in the period but the Whalers couldn't capitalize on the chance to get back into the game. The score would remain the same until 2:39 when the Jacks would extend their lead to 7-3 with a PP goal by Tyler Dewdney (2nd of the night). The Jacks would then pump in another quick goal at 2:27 this time by Will Olmstead to put this game out of reach for the Whalers with the Jacks now leading 8-3. The Whalers didn't roll over though as they got two late goals from Ryan Quinn his second of the night at 2:09 and his third of the night at 1:54, but that was as close as the Whalers would get as the Jacks would win this game 8-5. The Jacks Pelkey had 13 more saves in the third and finished the night with 44 saves, whereas the Whalers Kenny Lallier had 7 saves in the third and game total of 26 saves.
