In the first game of the night we had the Blues hosting the Jacks. Both teams showed up with full rosters ready to play the last game before the league went on a 3 week break during the holidays. The Blues came out hungry and peppering the Jacks Chris Pelkey who ended up turning away all 14 shots he faced in the first. The Jacks Jordan McGee got the Jacks on the scoreboard first scoring the only goal in the first period with 3:26 remaining in the period. Even though the Blues had out played the Jacks, it was the Jacks who would be up 1-0 after 15 minutes of play.
In the second period the Jacks wasted no time going up 2-0 as Tim Patten scored 18 seconds into the period. The Blues would settle down and pick up their play as they would answer back with 4 goals straight. The first goal was scored by Mike Anderson at 9:13; the second goal was scored by Tyler White at the 7:32 mark to tie the score at two. The Blues would then take a 3-2 lead just 22 seconds later on Chad Quirion goal. The Blues would go up 4-2 on Mike Anderson’s second goal of the game with 2:37 remaining; the period would end with the score 4-2 Blues as they were able to cash in on 4 times on 18 shots.
Heading into the third with the Blues in control of the game and out shooting the Jacks through two periods the Jacks were still only down by two goals. The Blues weren't done their though as they kept the pressure on and Brian Smith was able to extend their lead to 5-2 at 11:37 mark in the period. Although the Jacks went down 5-2 they picked up their play but it was the Blues TJ Moran who would score the games next goal, making the score 6-2 with 2:26 remaining. A minute later the Jacks Jordan McGee would make the score 6-3 and then he would add another goal (for the hat trick) making the score 6-4 with 54 seconds left but that is as close as they would get. The Blues would win the game 6-4 but if it wasn't for Chris Pelkey the Jacks wouldn't have stayed in the game as he made 42 saves on the night!
