OVER/UNDER: | 6 |

The Lumberjacks come into tonight off a come from behind win to beat the Nords 2-1 in OT, where as Tuck is coming into tonight off a convincing 5-2 win over the Gamblers. Both teams are playing there best hockey right now and tonight's game will be a good one. The season series was split at 2-2 with all but the last meeting being very competitive. Tonight's game is going to come down to who plays better defense as both teams can score, the advantage goes to Tuck as they are deeper in net and look for Dan Rosen (Tuck) to have a big night in the net. Tuck will win this game 4-2 with an empty net goal late to seal the win and make Tuck the Whalen Cup champs two years in a row.
In final game of the season we have the battle for the Whalen Cup with the Lumberjacks (#1) hosting Tuck (#2). The Lumberjacks come into tonight off a come from behind win to beat the Nords 2-1 in OT, whereas Tuck is coming into tonight off a convincing 5-2 win over the Gamblers. The game started out with all the hype a championship game would have, packed stands (99% of them were from Tuck), both teams with full rosters and ready to play for the cup. The game started out with back and forth action as both teams pressed to get the game"s first goal. The play was even for the first 10 minutes of play and then Tuck"s Jonny Mathias took the game"s first penalty. Both teams are very talented so to give the other team a power play was huge, during the power play the Jacks were able to get a few shots on Rosen but Tuck was able to kill the penalty off. As the penalty expired Tuck seemed to gain a little bit of momentum off the kill, but with 1:10 left in the period Tuck"s Mark Rautiola was called for the games second penalty giving the Jacks another chance on the power play. As the Jacks set up on the power play, Tuck"s Conrad Trimbath was able to intercept the pass and get the puck on Jed McDonald"s stick. Jed skated up the ice and into the Jacks zone with Will Collins as they got into the zone they executed a perfect 2 on 2 play against the Jacks defense. McDonald was able to set up Will Collins backdoor to put Tuck up 1-0 on a pretty shorthanded goal. The period would end with Tuck up 1-0 and still shorthanded heading into the second period.
The Jacks won the faceoff and put the puck deep in the Tucks end to set up on the power play that had carried over from the first period. Tuck came out buzzing off their late goal and was able to break up the Jacks PP and Tuck"s Jed McDonald gained control of the puck. McDonald again skated up the ice this time with John Dawson, Dawson got open backdoor and McDonald was able to set him up just 49 seconds into the period. Tuck has now scored two shorthanded goals in less than two minute to give them a 2-0 lead. Tuck has all the momentum after two shorthanded goals and the crowd is behind them cheering loudly! Tuck keeping the pressure on results in some sloppy play by the Jacks Jared Labelle who earned a trip to the penalty box. On the insuming power play Tuck sets up in the Jacks end with great puck movement, John Dawson was able to get set up in the slot where Jed McDonald was able to set him up for his second goal of the night, this time on the power play. With Tuck being up 3-0 they were controlling this game but with about 5 minutes left on the period they took a penalty. Tuck was able to kill off the penalty and finish the period with a 3-0 lead.
In the third period Tuck came out just as hungry as they had in the past two periods as they were 15 minutes away from back to back championships. The Jacks did fight back for the first five minutes of the period but then they took three consecutive penalties that slowed down all their momentum. The Jacks were able to kill all three penalties but by the time they were full strength again, there was only 4:45 left in the period. The Jacks kept trying but they weren"t able to get anything past Tuck"s Dan Rosen. Tuck"s John Dawson was able to close the game out with an unbelievable slapper from the slot that beat the Lumberjack goalie Zach Lary with just a 1:09 left. This was Dawson"s third goal of the night and probably the prettiest goal of the year. Congrats to Tuck as they take the game 4-0 and they won back to back Whalen Cup Championships!
