In the first game of the night we have Ramuntos hosting the top seed Lumberjacks. Both teams come into this week off of wins, Ramuntos off a forfeit win and the Jacks off a 6-2 win over the Gamblers. The Jacks have locked up the top seed for the playoffs but if Ramuntos wins and a G-men loss, Ramuntos can finished in 3rd place in the standings. The Jacks have taken all three of the previous meetings this year, look for this game to be no different as they will cruise to a 6-2 win.
In the first game of the night we have Ramuntos hosting the top seed Lumberjacks. Both teams come into this week off of wins, Ramuntos off a forfeit win and the Jacks off a 6-2 win over the Gamblers. The Jacks have locked up the top seed for the playoffs but if Ramuntos wins and the G-men lose, Ramuntos can finish in 3rd place in the standings. Both teams came out hungry and ready to play, the Jacks didn"t waste any time to get on the board as Sean Murphy put the Jacks up 1-0 at 11:35 into the period. With Ramuntos being down by a goal, they started taking as many shots as they could to try to get on the board. Ramuntos was able to finally tie the game up with 4:48 left in the period as Garren Poirier was left all alone in the slot. The Jacks didn"t take long to answer back as Sean Murphy scored his second of the night just 47 seconds later to put the Jacks up 2-1. The period ended with the Jacks up 2-1 and both goalies saw a lot of shots in the opening frame, the Jacks Zach Lary saved 11 and Ramuntos Matt Albertazzi had 16 saves.
In the second period the Jacks came out hungry and looking to get the games next goal, the next goal was again from Sean Murphy who scored at 12:37 for the Hat trick and to give the Jacks a 3-1 lead. The Jacks kept their foot on the gas pedal and scored just 75 seconds later; the goal came from Jay Zanleoni as he tipped in a shot from the point to put the Jacks up 4-1. The Jacks wern"t done there as the Tim Patten made an unbelievable individual effort as he carried the puck through the neutral zone, then proceeded to toe drag around the defense and then roof the puck past Tazzi high glove side to make a statement. The Jacks were now up 5-1 with 8:30 left in the second period. With Ramuntos being down 5-1 they could have folded and packed it but the kept fighting, they were able to a goal from Sophie Leclerc with 2:52 left in the period to make the score 5-2. That would end the scoring for both teams as Lary finished the period with 11 saves and Tazzi with 12.
With the Jacks being up 5-2 Ramuntos knew they had to come out hard and try to get the games next goal, they were able to do that as Garren Poirier was able to score his second of the night just 20 seconds into the period. That would be as close as Ramuntos would get though as the Jacks Jordan McGee scored a goal at 8:33 to give the Jacks a 6-3 lead. The game would end with the scored 6-3 as neither team could score as the period went on. The Jacks Lary finished the period with 12 saves and a game total of 34 saves, meanwhile Ramuntos Tazzi finished the period with 11 saves and a game total of 39. Both goalies played really well and kept this game very competitive.
Note: the Jacks have won the regular season and the #1 seed in the playoffs which gets them a bye into the semifinals. Ramuntos finished the season in 4th place and will host the #5 Nordiques.
