In the final game of the night we have the #1 Lumberjacks hosting the #5 Gamblers. The Jacks come into this week after having last week off due to neither team able to get a goalie. The Jacks have been up and down the last couple of weeks but look for them to rebound this week.

The Gamblers come into this week after a 5-4 loss to Ramuntos in a back and forth battle. The Gamblers have been inconsistent this year with a 6-7 record overall and are 1-1 vs the Jacks.

Look for the Gamblers to give the Jacks a run for their money but coming up a little short tonight. The Jacks will win this game 4-2 and continue to stay in first place.

Gamblers Down Top Ranked 'Jacks 6-4

The Gamblers came into tonight's action with a chip on their shoulders. Having dominated the UVHL since their rebirth in 2008, they have been just above mediocre with a 6-6-1 record heading into tonight's action. The Lumberjacks on the other hand have made their first year in the UVie a memorable one as they have climbed to the top of the standings and held that spot.

Tonight the G-Men(and lady) took it to the 'Jacks with a 6-4 win, outshooting their opponent 40-28. The first period was a tight chess-match with the Gamblers potting the only goal of the period. The flow was fast, lots of skill and intensity. Both goaltenders stopped 12 shots in the period and Dan "The Danimal" Ammel was the lone scorer from his BFF Matty "The Mailman" Marrazzo who always delivers.

The second period saw the G-Men go up 3-0 on an early goal from Josie Fisher who put home a Max Woods rebound and a snipe by Ryan "Thing 1" LaCroix. It was all Gamblers to start the 2nd as they doubled up the Jacks with shots on goal in the period until Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee took things into his own hands and put his team back in the game with a pair of goals late in the period...on the same shift. Chris Henault tied the game just 77 seconds later with a snapper from the high slot and it looked like the momentum had shifted and the Lumberjacks were about to flatten the Gamblers for their 10th win of the season.

Then the third period started and a trio of Lumberjack penalties doomed them as the high-powered Gambler's scoring machine clicked into third gear and scored on all three powerplays. Goals from The Danimal, Ryan "Thing 2" LaCroix & Kyle "Thing 1" LaCroix put the game out of reach. A last minute goal by the Jacks from Sean "The Lumbersexual" Murphy wasn't enough, and the Gamblers took this one home 6-4.
