In game number two we have the 5th place Gamblers hosting 3rd place Ramanutos. The Gamblers are coming off a convincing win over the Whale last week. Ramuntos comes into this week off of a forfeit win over the Nords. Ramuntos has been a different team since coming back from the holidays as they have played much tighter hockey and giving themselves a much better chance to win. The game started out with both teams ready to go, the Gamblers had a light bench tonight with only 8 skaters showing up. Ramuntos was able to get on the score board first when Garren Poirier beat Ryan Van Schoick at the 9:44 mark in the period. Ramuntos kept coming and was able to add another goal at 4:14 when Terence Moran was able to beat RVS high glove as he was set up with a drop pass from Sophie Leclerc. The Gamblers pushed back but they were unable to put the puck past Tazzi as he finished the period with 13 saves and RVS with 10 saves.

The Gamblers came out hungry in the second period and got on the scoreboard early as Josie Fisher was able to beat Tazzi backdoor on a nice pass from Topo LaCroix just 58 seconds in. The Gamblers kept the pressure up and they were able to tie the game up at 10:50 mark when Zach Aher let a twisted wrister go from the side boards as he broke into Ramuntos end. Shortly after the game was tied each team exchanged penalty calls but neither team was able to capitalize on the power play chances throughout the rest of the period. However Ramuntos was able to get a shorthanded goal with just 2 minutes left in the period to put them up 3-2 heading into the third. The shorthanded goal was set up by Tazzi stopping a Gamblers dump as they tried to set up on the power play, Tazzi then fired a pass out of his zone quickly to Sophie Leclerc who then hit Jason Rasco in stride as he skated full speed down the boards and bury the puck past RVS for the lead. After scoring a shorthanded goal Ramuntos took two penalties before the period was over to put the Gamblers on a 4 on 3 power play heading into the third.

With the Gamblers down by a goal and on the power play, they were looking to get the game tied again. While on the 4 on 3 pp the Gamblers were able to tie the game as Topo Lacroix was able to put home a rebound that Tazzi gave up off of a Josie Fisher shot to tie the game 3-3. Ramuntos didn"t give up though as they kept digging deep and they got the games next goal as Garren Poirier got his second of the night at 9:56 to put Ramuntos up 4-3. The Gamblers didn"t give up and kept fighting this back and forth game. With 4:16 left in the game, the Gamblers Zach Aher got his second of the night to tie the game 4-4. Although the Gamblers had just scored the game tying goal they were awarded a power play as Jason Mikula took a cross checking penalty after the goal. Things were looking good for the Gamblers as they instantly went back on the power play and a chance to take the lead in the game. On the power play the Gamblers got set up down low and took some shots but Ramuntos was able to clear the puck after a minute of pressure. When Ramuntos cleared the puck they forced RVS to come out and play the puck as a Ramuntos forward had beat the Gamblers defense back into the Gamblers zone. RVS came out and fired the puck around the boards; Garren Poirier was able to stop Van Shoick's clearing play and fired a slap shot that beat RVS off the far post as he skated back into the net, to put Ramuntos up 5-4. Garren"s goal was his third of the night and the second shorthanded goal the Gamblers had given up tonight. This goal was the game winner as Ramuntos hung on for the 5-4 win in a hard fought game.
