ODDS: | Tuck by 4 |
OVER/UNDER: | 8 |
Tuck comes into this game in a three way tie for first, where as the Whalers are looking for their first win. Tuck is firing on all cyclinders starting from Dan Rosen in goal, to the defense playing well in front of him and the offense putting up 12 goals in the last two games.
The Whalers on the other hand have been struggling as a team, one night Lailler is hot and his offense hasn't showed up or vice versa. If the Whalers show up and have a team effort this game will be much closer. If not look for this game to become a blow out as Tuck is that good. Tuck goes on to win this one 6-2.
Tuck game into the game in a three way tie for first, mean while the Whalers were looking for their first win of the season. The Whalers came out as if they were in first place playing hard and fast, looking for the games first goal. The Whalers continued to keep he pressure on Tuck and it eventually paid off. The Whalers first goal came at 10:34 of the first on a nice cycle out of the corner that had Mike Avery feed Patrick Riley back door. The Whalers continued to keep the pedal to the floor looking for another goal but at 8:07 Tuck was able to strike back with a shot from the point. The puck hit a few people on the way to the net and Kenny Lallier couldn't see it as it went right past him. Once Tuck was able to tie the game at one, they started dictating the play and peppering Lallier with a lot of shots however they were not able to get another one past Lallier (14 saves) and the period ended 1-1.
The second period was more of the same from Tuck as they were buzzing after they got the tying goal and not letting the underdog take control of the game. Tuck got the games next goal at 13:04 when Jed McDonald sniped Lallier high glove sided with a twisted wrister after he got a nice set up pass from Will Collins. Tuck was now up 2-1 but that second goal didn't settle well with the Whalers as they again raised the tempo and started pushing back looking for the tying goal. The Whalers got their second goal at 9:26 from Eli Desrochers as he sprung the Tuck defense on a nice pass from Mike Avery. Just two minutes later the Whalers continued to prove they wanted to win this game as Scotty Shaw beat the Tuck defense to the puck what would have been icing. Shaw picked the puck up and hit James Kerrigan in slot as he backhand the puck high glove side past Rosen. Kerrigans goal was pretty, his backhand was so perfect that you could have mistaken it for a wrist shot. With the Whalers up 3-2 Tuck pushed back, but again Lallier had the answer (15 saves) holding the scored to 3-2 after two periods.
The Whalers came into the third with the lead and came out hungry looking to take control of the game. At 10:55 mark in the period the Whalers got what they were looking for when Patrick Riley got his second of the night after being set up by Scotty Shaw and James Kerrigan. With the Whalers now leading 4-2, Tuck decided it was time to show up and get back in this game. They did so by scoring just 30 seconds later on a goal from Brandon Harrington who was set up by Jed McDonald. Just 30 seconds after making the game 4-3, Brandon Harrington returned the favor and set up Jed McDonald to tie the game 4-4. Tuck continued to keep the pressure on the Whalers and completed the comeback to take the lead at 7:32 when Conrad Trimbath took the puck end to end and beat Lallier five-hole to put Tuck up 5-4. The Whalers responded just 40 seconds later with a goal from Scotty Shaw, set up by James Kerrigan. With about half the period left to decide the game neither team was able find the back of the net. Regulation ended with the game tied 5-5.
To the shoot out we go:
Rnd 1. Whalers-Patrick Riley, dekes - NO GOAL-Save Rosen
Rnd 1. Tuck- Jed McDonald shots high blocker- GOAL
Rnd 2. Whalers-James Kerrigan, dekes has Rosen beat but couldn't get the puck up- NO GOAL- Save Rosen

Tuck wins 6-5 in a shoot out.
This game was the most entertaining game of the night as the Whalers were so close to getting their first win of the year but the shoot out didn't go in their favor.
