Tuckies Look to Rebound Against Whalers
ODDS: | Tuck By 5 Goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 7 Goals |
Maybe the Tuckies went into last week with a little bit too much confidence as they dropped a close game 5-4 to the Gamblers. That's not good for the Whalers as I'm sure Tuck will show up with a little more emotion tonight than if they had won last week.
The Whalers sit at 1-2-0 with a lone win last week against the winless Dead Riverians(0-4-0). It was a great 5-4 win, but really, there are some Mite teams that could beat Dead River right now.
That being said, Tuck has 3 of the top 6 scorers this season with Jed "McNasty" McDonald(9pts - tied for the league lead), Brandon "The Harry One" Harrington(8pts) & Eric "The Rat" Rautiola(7pts) leading the way.
The Whalers have Woody "Woodpecker" Redpath(6 assists), Scotty "Sugar" Shaw(5pts) & James "Kerosene" Kerrigan(4 goals) leading the way for them.
The Whale are a bit overmatched in this one and the Odds from Vegas reflect that with a 7 goal over/under and Tuck by 5 goals as the line. Vegas things it's 7-2 Tuck, I would concur.
Harrington Puts On Clinic with 6 Goals and 8 Points
Brandon "Kenny's Master" Harrington put on a goal scoring clinic as he threw 6 past the Whaler's goalie Kenny "Harrington's Keeper" Lallier while adding 2 helpers on the night. The fact that Tuck had at least 60 fans in the stands tonight clearly had an affect on Harrington's heroics as it was evident that he was trying to get laid by at least one special lady in the stands...maybe two....three? Possibly even 4, I don't know if he'd have enough time.
Also chipping in for Tuck was Jed "Old" McDonald(1g, 4a), Peter "Cougar" Mellen"camp"(2 goals) and Eric "The Rat" Rautiola with a trio of helpers.
The Whalers were exposed defensively by the talented Tuckies but still managed 3 goals against a very good defensive team backboned by the stellar Mike "Wine & Dine" Devine. Woody "Red Light" Redpath figured in all 3 goals as he threw a pair past Devine and assisted on the third.
Tuck started the scoring with three straight over a 84 seconds. Peter Mellen started it off with 8:44 to play by jamming home a garbage goal followed by Harrington beating Lallier 5-holio 56 seconds later. Mike Nowak followed up Harrington's goal 28 seconds later with a roof job glove side to give Tuck a 3-0 lead.
END OF THE FIRST: Tuck 3, Whalers ZIP. Devine 5 saves, Lallier 7.
The Whalers got two back in the third period but threw defense out the window to get them, allowing 5 goals in the process. James "Kerosene" Kerrigan put the Whalers on the board just 1:28 into the second as he stormed down the far side with his stick to the middle. Kerrigan beat Devine with a high twisted wrister glove side, right by the Devine's head.
Harrington made it 4-1 at 11:09 after throwing a Rautiola pass 5-hole on Lallier and Mellen was credited with a goal after a Whaler's defensemen, who shall remain nameless, threw the puck into his own net trying to clear it out of the slot.
Harrington recorded his first hat trick of the night after picking the puck up in the slot and burying the puck glove side half way up inside the post.
With Rautiola in the box for 4 minutes for Holding and Slashing, the Whaler's Woody Redpath scored his first of the night with a power play goal. It was an absolute snipe of a snapper as he flew down the near boards and beats Devine far side, glove, where mama keeps the lotions & lubes...top shelf baby 6-2.
Harrington made it 7-2 on a semi breakaway, snapper off the crossbar and in. It was so pretty it made referee Greg "WAGHIP" Hadley "shit his pants"...real quote from the source. That was Harrington's 4th and he wasn't done as he was responsible for setting up the next goal even if he didn't get an assist on the play. Harrington one-man-showed it as he went in on a 1 on 3 and rifles one off of Lallier's chest. The puck drops in the crease, a couple whacks and McDonald cleans up the garbage.
Devine made a HUGE save with 1:33 left in the second, Kerrigan finds Ryan "Floss" Foss in the slot all alone and Devine kicks a pad out for the HUGE save.
END OF THE SECOND: Tuck 8, Whalers 2 - Lallier 11 Saves, Devine 11 Saves
Harrington scored the next two goals, the first was a trickler on the first shift of the period, unassisted and McDonald set up Harrington with 12:11 to play for the DOUBLE HAT TRICK! Seriously, a double fucking hat trick.
Tuck carried play for the next couple minutes but Lallier came up big and then with 7:25 left Redpath went in on a breakaway but "Once Upon a Time" Devine gave him nothing, shutting the door and making the save.
Peter "The Fever" Lefeber made it 11-2 with a point blast from the far boards, Lallier ducks, the puck goes under the crossbar, great shot.
The Whalers cut the defecit back to 8 goals on a point shot that bounced all over, eventually landing on top of the net. A Tuck defenseman popped it off the top of the net and it landed back in the crease, bounced once and Redpath batted it out of the air for the goal. Pretty sick and stupid play at the same time.
With 27 seconds left Tommy "The Toilet" Crapser found the puck on his stick on the backdoor, Devine did his best Hasek Barrel Roll only to see Crapser ring the post, no goal.
END OF REGULATION: Tuck 11, Whalers 3. Devine 27 saves, Lallier 3
