Nords @ The Whale

The Nordiques have taken two of three in the season series, but the only win for the Whalers was a dominant 5-1 throttling. The Nordiques have had trouble scoring, especially when their offensive leader, Jordy "McShoulder" McGee is out of the lineup. Last week, without McGee, the Nordiques were put down by the last placed and short benched Dead River Rats 6-3.

The Whalers barely escaped a late rally by Tuck last week in a 7-5 win. The Nordiques are expected to have a few key players back in the lineup tonight and should make this a game.

The Whaler's top line of Zanleoni, Gaudet & Pierce will give the Nordiques fits, but if the Nords can play them tough and stick to defense it should be close. The difference in this one will be the goaltending. Both the Nordique's Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner and Whaler's Kenny "Arthritis" Lallier have had roller coaster seasons.

I can see this one tied 5-5 going to a shootout with the Nordiques taking the win.

Whalers Throttle Hapless Nordiques 9-2

The Nordiques woes continued tonight and the Whalers offense exploded in one of their best nights as a team this season. It was the largest margin of victory for the Whalers so far this season and yet again it was the same players that contributed to the offensive outburst.

Leading the way was Joe "Gaudy" Gaudet with a hat trick and pair of assists, Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni with a goal and four helpers and Dillan "Fierce" Pierce with a goal and three assists. Adding in for a career night was Gary "The Pearl Necklace" Laperle with 4 assists. "Ah yeah.. Played pretty good when you you have Joe and Jay next to you....... Kept on feeding them all night long to crush the Nords" recalled Laperle after the game.

The Nordiques were without three of their four core defensemen(McGover, Dakai & Park), and in their absence the Nords youth line of McGee, Mayhew & Racicot moved back to defense...essentially sacrificing offense for shitty defense.

The Whalers rallied around alternate goaltender Jeremy "The Love Seed" Seidling who was filling in for the Whaler's aging beauty Kenny Lallier. Seidling was excellent, making 20 of 22 saves for the win.

The Nordiques weren't so lucky with their goaltending. Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner had a dismal .690 save percentage allowing 9 goals on 29 shots. "It wasn't Turners best game, it seemed like every shot went in for a short stint in the second period" said one unnamed Whaler player.

In the end, the Whalers were the vastly superior team.

I know that's just an average Tuesday for some of the Brewers, but considering it was my first career penalty and third career goal, it was a feat for me!

But the scorekeeper had Gaudet getting both penalties for the Whale. Which was you, hold in the first or trip in the second?

That means that on any given night in their careers, Shanny was TEN times more likely to get a goal, assist and a fight than Mr. Hockey. Over the course of his career, Howe had 22 fights and 1685 PIMs. Let's assume (for stats sake) that each of those PIMs accounted for a minor, he'd have taken 842.5 penalties in his NHL career. Shannahammer is one of my all-time favorite players, in fact I met him in Toronto for All-Star weekend in 2000. I have yet to wash that hand, and have been cited for food safety violations repeatedly, but I refuse to wash away that silky soft handshake I experienced that day....ahhhhhh...Ok, that was kinda gay, but nonetheless a great experience! how about a Shanatrick? Or a Shanahatty?

Or a Shanahatty? Shanahatty made me laugh, so I'll vote for that one. It's your call though, as you're clearly the Shanatic. I agree, he was an awesome player...very much an average disciplinarian...but certainly one of the most fun people to watch on the ice. I still remember when he played for the old Whalers, he was probably the only thing that made that sorry lot noticeably better than the crew now in the UHVL, HA!
