The Whalers come into tonight's action as losers of 5 out of their last 6 games. Their only high-point would be a 5-1 win over the Nordiques. Dead River has lost their last 4 games, and their only win on the season came 5 weeks ago against the lowly Whalers.

Dead River is a crapshoot, you never know who will show up and what alternates they'll bring to fill in their roster. They battled the #2 seeded Brewers to a 5-4 loss last week, and have the potential to beat the Whalers again on Tuesday night.

The Whalers are in disarray, after a strong start from Dillon "Fierce" Pierce where he scored 18 points in his first 6 games in the UVHL, Pierce has only tallied 3 points in his last 6 games.

For the Whalers to be successful, Pierce needs to start firing on all cylinders again.

Goaltending: Kenny "The Stache" Lallier and Greg "Bin Laden" Feiden have had up and down seasons. Both goaltenders can be spectacular at times and swiss cheese at others, and tend to get sloppy defensive play in front of them..

Lallier was awesome in his Sunday night pickup, so look for him to be terrible on Tuesday night!

Whalers should blow away Dead River by 4 or 5 goals, but since they are in a mid-season funk, we'll say this one is going to be a 5-4 win for Lallier and the Whale.

Whalers Ride 5-Goal Third to Win Over Dead River.

The Whalers opened up a giant can of whoop-ass on the last placed Dead River team in the third period. Scoring 5 goals in a 4-4 game to put a nail in the coffin. Dead River had a short bench, as usual, and recruited three alternates to fill out their roster and seem to have orchestrated a mid-season trade for the Whaler's Jason "Bling" Grambling. In return Dead River sent the Whalers some good will, a case of sani hand wipes and some Dead River Oil pamphlets.

Dead River actually jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in this one behind a goals from Jason "Loopy" Loomis and Kyle "The Sherpa" Koetsier. That feeling of elation was short-lived as the Whalers stormed back with three goals of their own. All three goals came from the top line of Zanleoni, Gaudet & Pierce. Gaudet had two and Zanleoni had the other.

Gaudet was the first star, amassing four goals and two assists, Zanleoni (second star) had a pair of each and Pierce (third star) was the playmaker with four helpers on the night.

END OF THE FIRST: Whalers 3, Dead River 2

Dead River outscored the Whalers in the second period, 2-1. Goals by Gramling and alternate Garren "teed Penalty" Poirier sandwiched a Whalers goal from Gary "The Pearl Necklace" Laperle.

END OF THE SECOND: Whalers 4, Dead River 4

Dead River's legs started to fade in the third period and the Whalers scored three goals in 76 seconds to break things open at the 8:36 mark. Zanleoni scored his 3rd of the season from pierce and Gaudet followed just seven seconds later from Pierce and then followed up again by Tommy "The Shitter" Crapser 69 seconds later on assists from Jason Rouillard & Chris Gogan.

Gaudet notched his 14th of the season with 4:36 to play and "Lucky Chucky Gaede scored his first goal of the season with 3:27 to play end the scoring for the night.
