Dead River Looks For First Win of Season Over Brewers
ODDS: | Brewers By 2 Goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 6 Goals |
Can Dead River win a game this season? The reigning Whalen Cup Champion Squad has started the season off 0-6-0 but with the addition of Alex "Little Z" Zagaria, Chubba Muranko & Bryant Harris, they are looking to turn the tides against the Brewers.
Both teams are coming off of dismal offensive performances from last week. DR lost 4-1 to the Tuckies with only Greg "Fat & Fatter" Hadley scoring their lone goal and the Brewers getting trounced 7-2 by a retooled Whalers squad.
Both goaltenders have come up big this season and also let in an abundance of goals. It is more of a team issue, as the sheer number of odd man rushes they allow hasn't given them much of a fighting chance.
This game will come down to whoever scores more goals...period. How's that for a prediction?
Brewers take it in a low scoring due...4-2....maybe 4-3 i
Brewers ride solid goaltending to 4-1 win over Dead River
The 3rd place Brewers actually has 2 lines for only the second time this season, and without actually being there I would thing that could have been the difference because I counted only 8 skaters for DR, and that is without star rookie Stu Grande in attendance.
With game notes kindly provided by Kelly Park, I am able to do some justice to this write-up as I was home sick with vaginitis all week crying because my Leafs are the Bruins' bitch.
Big Z and little Z were a solid D pairing again (Zanleoni in his 3rd game of the night and Alexandra Zagaria), and Big Z was physical, taking two physical penalties for cross-checking and body checking. Apparently Z doubled-up on his once per week meat-fest on Buffalo wings post-game because of all the calories he burned. Nice triple-header, Z!
There was noscoring until the second period when Kyle Koetsier scored for DR on a breakaway 5-holio on Albertazzi for the only DR goal of the game with 4:46 left in the period. The lead was brief and Bill Fletcher scored from Brock Barton at 3:27 to tie it up. DR's Chubba was playing physical, and was getting under the Brewers skin. "It was great", says Park, and the "Brewers can dish it out, but can't take it".
"One of Fletch's goals was a snipe from high slot, not sure about the other", Park noted. Maybe it was his second at 8:24 of the third from captain Garren Poirier.
Keith Lazarczyk scored on the PP by chipping in a nice pass from Fletch in the corner at 7:05 with Zaneloni in the box for his bodychecking penalty. Tim Barrett's goal was a breakaway with 10 seconds left to play.
Final Score: Brewers remain 1 point out of second with a 4-1 win
Final Tally: Fletcher led all scorers with 2G, 1A and gets the POW nod with Tazzy's best 0.947 save percentage performance of the night. I don't have the shot totals by period, so you'll have to check the boxscore to see for yourself.
Final Analysis: As per Parky: "Another close one, not a ton of shots. Tazzy was pretty solid, Poor Feiden." What else is there to say?
