Gamblers look for REDEMPTION!
ODDS: | Gamblers by 1 goal |
OVER/UNDER: | 11 Goals |
The Gamblers hopes for a perfect 2010-2011 season were dashed by Tuck in week one...a heartbreaking 4-3 loss. Tuck is undefeated with relatively close games despite a 10-2 blowout of the Nordiques. The G-Men have had a couple of blowout wins this season en route to a 4-1-0 start, but got caught up in a hockey game last week when they took some bad penalties late in the game and lost their wind, but ultimately beat the Nordiques 6-5 in a shootout.
Can Tuck muster the bodies for a late game? The Gamblers were without superstar Matty "The Milkman" Marrazzo in week 1, was that the difference? Can Dan "The Man" Yacey stay awake in net past 10pm?
I think the Gamblers take this one by a goal or two...6-5 G-Men...and one G-Lady....well after last week, there were a bunch of G-Ladies on the G-Men bench. No offense to the ladies....the real ones.
This should be a HELL of a game, to watch, play in or dream about.
Gamblers are Kings, Down Top Rated Tuck 4-1
The most hyped game of the night, possibly the year was Tuck visiting the Gamblers tonight. The Tuck Turduckens came into tonight with an impressive 5-0-0 record, including a solid 4-3 win over the Gamblers in week 1. The Gamblers were looking for redemption on their 4-1-0 record.
In week 1, the Gamblers were missing superstar forward Matty "The Milkmaid" Marrazzo who was out after eating a bad batch of Mozzarella. Tonight the Gamblers were without stud netminder Jered "The Condor" Condon, but signed a one game contract with Dead River's Greg "First Period" Feiden. Feiden, who's GAA had ballooned this year to 6.67 with Dead River after posting a ridiculous 3.07 GAA last year with the Gamblers.
Feiden was awesome tonight, turning away 26 shots, but wasn't quite as busy as Tuck's Dan "The Man" Yacey who turned away 39 of 43 shots en route to the loss.
The G-Men got off to a good start, thanks to the return of Marrazzo who potted his 6th of the year just 70 seconds into the game, as he stripped a Tuckie defenseman at the tops of the circles and broke in all alone, beating Yacey with a quick move across the crease. Marrazzo set up the second goal at 9:38 as he broke in with Dan "The Animal" Ammel on a 2 on 1, looked pass and fired a quick shot that Yacey stopped but Ammel chipped the rebound up and over Yacey for the 2-0 lead.
END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 2, Tuck ZIP
The second frame saw little action, with the refs letting both teams play, there wasn't a single penalty in the first 30 minutes of play, and only one goal from the Gamblers late in the period. the goal came off of a beautiful play where the Gambler's defensive stud Marc "The Narc" Gattie dumped the puck in to the end boards to the left of Tuck's net. Gattie saw his speedy center Willy "Wobble" Meyer chasing it down and headed to the net for a pass. Meyer looked over his shoulder and dished the puck perfectly between his legs, through a Tuck defenseman and onto the stick of Gattie crashing the net for the goal. That was Gattie's first of the year, and a huge goal in this game.
END OF THE SECOND: Gamblers 3, Tuckies ZILCH
The intensity and turnovers picked up in the third period, along with all 3 penalty calls. The Gamblers took 2 penalties to Tuck's 1. Yacey turned away 15 shots and Feiden shut down 12. Tuck finally broke through on Feiden with 9:36 to play when Chris Johnson hit Josh "Chernobyl" Cherney cutting through center ice. Cherney broke down the far boards, closely watched by Gamblers defenseman and fired a quick snapper past Feiden from the far faceoff dot. Tuck had a chance to get back in it with Allison "The Hook" Malcolm in the box from firing a right jab across the helmet of Tuck's Stevie "The Bully" Bates. Malcolm sat in the box, and watched fellow center Willy Meyer pick pocket another Tuck defenseman and score a shorthanded breakaway goal with 6:27 to play.
END OF REGULATION: Gamblers 4, Tuck 1
The Gamblers were too much for Tuck tonight. Maybe Tuck was over confident with their week 1 win, or maybe it was having Marrazzo back in the lineup. Either way, it was a hell of a game. Tuck and the Gamblers have 3 more games this year...tune in.
