yes, we are in the basement but common'man .. I think we will pull another one out tonight as long as we don't let Scotty and Stevie start b/c that will guarantee a goal for the Brewcrew w/in 30 seconds. kpark Quechee, VT

I have nothing but high expectations for the Whale....BUT, that being said, you are still in the basement and the Brewers have beaten you in both contests this season.
Although....you are 2-0-1 in your last 3. I may need to change my Pick 'em over to the Whale for tonight.

| STILL No Love for the Whale... Jan 26th, 2010 03:51 PM
Too funny, I went to click on "Discussion" and said to myself "still no love for the whale," and look at Jay's post!
I agree with Jay, Kelly, you make it out to seem like our win over Dead River was an upset for the ages, when really it was the No. 6 team beating the No. 5 team, and we're within one point of DR. Might I remind you that the week before we held a lead over the Gamblers with less than a second left, and STILL prevailed in OT.
Also, as a defenseman, I take it personally that "if" the defense can play well, we're only expected to give up 5 or 6 goals. If that's considered playing well for us Whaler D, perhaps I should start skating on Thursdays instead. JTStally Hanover, NH

Also, just for the record, I think Magic Hat makes a better brew than Long Trail. kpark Quechee, VT

| STALLY!Jan 26th, 2010 04:04 PM IN RESPONSE TO:BY: JTStally Also, just for the record, I think Magic Hat makes a better brew than Long Trail. First things first, you may want to wear some extra padding tonight, there are a ton of Long Trail enthusiasts that may take exception to your last comment!
Secondly, consistency has never been the strong suit of the Whale. Especially late in games. Although, the mid-season addition of a TROJAN, seems to have had some sort of stimulating effect on a limp Whalers squad, filling their lifeless bodies with warm blood and looking to unload their shots in any open hole......get it, you were a Trojan?!?!? Lame, I know.
Thirdly, maybe I'm trying to light a fire under the Whaler's collective asses. Mad respect for the Whalers though, who have reversed the role from "Lovable Drunken Loosers just looking for some fun" to a "Talented & Competitive Hockey Team".

Oh, don't worry, I got exactly where you were going with that!
And, make no mistake, we still like to be lovable drunks, we just prefer to do so on Magic Hat or Switchback...not Long Trail :) Z-Skate White River Jct, VT

I am not saying last week was an epic win but being in the basement, when you win, you pull it off b/c you aren't expected to win. Z-Skate White River Jct, VT

HA HA HA! I LOVED the one about Bartline's seminar, Crazy Eyes Lyle, the sarcasm, the non-fight, and the post-game quotes. Nice job, Parky!

McD I agree. Well written Kelly. One technicality, the fluke goal was the second goal the blast from the circle was the third for the Brew Crew. I'll let it slide though because of the depth of the article. It's like you were on the ice for this game... JTStally Hanover, NH
