ODDS: | Brewers By 4 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 10 goals |
The Brewers have won their last two and 3 of 4 since the return of their prodigal son, Nick "Dr. McSelfish" Bayley. The combination of their stellar offense, anchored by Billy "The Kid" Fletcher & Brian Smith, a solid & physical defense and the best netminder in Hanover, NH's north side, is a deadly combination. The Whalers have lost back to back games by a combined score of 19-7. In 17 games this season they have only scored more than 4 goals 3 times, and that piece of data seems to have messed with their defensive strategy as of late as they have been pressing for more offense and leaving Lallier out to dry.
This should be the classic battle, Whalers play tough, hold the Brewers at bay for 1 and 1/2 to 2 periods before the flood gates open up. This will be a 7-3 blowout for the Brewers.

WHALERS play 45 minutes of solid hockey. DOWN the favored Brewers 6-5.
This was a classic game that had a fight, 11 goals scored, a game tying goal called BACK with 13 seconds to go and two teams bitching and whining like they were all on the same menstrual cycle. 11 penalties made for a chippy contest as both teams seemed desperate to set the tone early and close out the last couple weeks of the season on a high note. The Whalers looked good, and were pesky all night, but took 6 penalties as they buzzed around the ice like a pack of pesky chihuahuas nibbling at the Brewer's ankles.
That nibbling paid off as the Whalers jumped out to a quick lead when Joey "The Mute" Hayes quietly put one past the Brewers new netminder Nick Louras just 30 seconds into the game. The Brewers were without superstar netminder Petey "The Buiscuit Eater" Bartline due to being called up to the big leagues and starring in the Greater Alaskan Yeti-Wresting League or better known as the G.A.Y. League. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
The Whalers carried play for the next 8 minutes before a bad pass from the Brewer's Sean "The Ladies Man" McCabe to Danny "Super Chunk Anger Management" Charette turned into a breakaway for the Whalers. Charette took the bad pass at the point and took an off balanced shot into the shinpads of Liam "The Mosquito" Oliver who quickly turned the puck up ice on a two on zero with Todd "The Rat" Nalette. Oliver put a shimmy-shake on Louras pulled the puck to his back hand before dishing the puck back to Nalette who went to his backhand into the open net. Whalers made it 3-0 with just 1:10 to go when Oliver took a pass from Jimmy "Chocolate" LeClair and deposited it past Louras.
END OF THE FIRST: Whalers 3, Brewers ZILCH
SAVES: Lallier(WHL) 10, Louras(BRE) 8
The Brewers opened up the 2nd period with a pair of goals from Billy "The Kid" Fletcher & Joey "Lickity Splitz" Lyle to cut the lead to 1 goal and 5:46 to play. It was Fletcher's 27th of the year and first of two on the night while Lyle added his 7th goal in 7 games this season. The Whaler's bounced back less than 2 minutes later while playing 4 on 4. With the Brewer's Kevin "The Axe" Calder in the box for tripping and then the Whaler's Oliver in the box on the ensuing faceoff for verbal abuse of a referree, Jimmy LeClair sent Hayes in on a breakaway where he threw a quick shot low blocker side for the 4-2 lead. Hayes followed his goal up with 2 minutes in the box for Holding that lead to a Brewers power play goal with just 52 seconds to play when Danny Charette shook the ice as he skated with the puck and found Fletcher all alone in front of the net. Fletch beat Lallier with a quick snapper up over the glove to cut the lead to 1 goal and close out the scoring in the 2nd period.
END OF THE SECOND: Whalers 4, Brewers 3
SAVES: Lallier(WHL) 20, Louras(BRE) 19
The Whalers opened up the scoring early in the 3rd period to make it 5-3 when Oliver hit Sam "Adams &" Bailey"s over ice" at center ice. Bailey walked in on Louras cut to the backhand across the crease and fired a backhander up over the pad with 13:28 to play in the game. Chris "Turtle" Johnson cut the lead back to 1 goal just 1:21 later on a blistering slapshot high on Lallier from Danny "Fudge Round" Charette. Another breakaway goal for the Whalers looked as if it was going to be the icing on the cake when Sammy Bailey made Louras his bitch for the second time in the period and 6:41 to play, but the Brewers turned up the heat to close out the game. With just 2 minutes to play, Danny Charette picked a fight with a man that weighs a good 350 lbs less than him. As he and Joey Hayes scrapped it up, Charette dropped his glovesPulling their goalie, Johnson got his 2nd of the game and 6th of the season from Fletcher and only 26 seconds to play. The ensuing faceoff was won by the Brewers, who walked into the Whaler's zone without any trouble at all. The Whalers seemed to look like they were sitting back, waiting for the game to end and trying to not make any mistakes, but Fletcher fired a puck from the near boards that rang off the near post and in with just 15 seconds to go as Shawn "McWhistle" McDermott called the goal from a tough angle. After conferring with the other referree at center ice, the game tying goal was called off and the Whalers finished off the last 15 seconds to secure the HUGELY UPSETTING VICTORY over the LOWLY BREWERS.

| Well Aware!!! Mar 3rd, 2009 05:19 PM
I'm well aware of the history this season.......and all I have to say is....Even the Sun Shines On A Dogs Ass Every Once In Awhile. If you don't get the proverb saying that ya got lucky. Here's another one....even a broken clock is right twice a day......unless it's digital and doesn't have power......or unless the arms are torn off of it........
Anyways, good luck tonight. My thoughts & prayers are with the Whalers as they are not the shittiest team in the UVHL anymore, since my Nordiques have taken over that spot pretty handily!!!!!
