Will the Queens show, bring their clubs & aces?

Another classic battle between the Storm Kings & Brewers ended up in a brilliant shootout win & 77 saves. Both goaltenders were called upon frequently to make game saving stops against two powerhouse offenses. It was actually a pretty clean game between two of the more physical teams in the UVHL, with only 4 penalties total, two death threats, 15 evil eyes & 27 death threats. The Brewers Pete "The Meat" Bartline turned away 39 shots and both shootout attempts for the big win which moved them into 2nd place in the league over the lowly and sinking Nords. Danny French "Toast" turned away 38 shots of his own but couldn't stop either shootout attempt, taking the loss.

It was a fast start for the Storm Kings as they tallied the first two goals of the game. The first goal came 6:35 into the first when "Mean" Dean Cashman found Robbie "Chicken Patty" Pattison in the high slot. Fifty seconds later Pat "The French Connection" Turcotte made it 2-0 off of a Stuey Close pass. It was beginning to look as though it was going to be a blowout for the Kingers, that is until the Brew Crew opened up the taps and poured a pint of intensity all over the Kingers and put in two of their own in the last 5 minutes of the period. The first came with 4:47 when Billy "The Kid" Fletcher took a Brian Smith pass, cut in on French and beat him low glove with a quick snapper. Garren "The Human Stick Figure" Poirier tied the game up with 2:41 to play when he fired a seeing eye puck from the point, through a screen and past a clueless Dan French.

END OF THE FIRST: Storm Kings 2, Brewers 2
SAVES: French(STK) 15, Bartline(BRE) 13

The high intensity first period slowed down in the second, with the teams trading goals and the Storm Kings taking both penalties. The second penalty to Cashman for Roughing lead to a Patty Turcotte goal 2ith 7:21 to play off of a Stuey Close pass. Nick "The Stick" Byaley tied the game at 3 apiece with 1:38 to play in the second from Isaac & Yehle.

END OF THE SECOND: Storm Kings 3, Brewers 3
SAVES: French(STK) 27, Bartline(BRE) 25

The Third period was slowly starting to tilt towards the Storm Kings end as you could tell they were starting to tire, but Dan French was there on 11 of the 12 shots. The only one to get by was Fletcher's 2nd of the game at 9:55 and it seemed as though it was going to be more than enough to wait out the tiring Kingers. That mentality was met by Pattison's second of the night with just 46 seconds to play when he took another Cashman pass in his office, the high slot, and fired a rocket of a snapper up and over the downed Bartline to tie the game and force a shootout.
